Exclamation Spring Blitz Toronto City Cruise - June 11

Dear TOprotege members,

It's with great pleasure that I announce the birth of a Downtown TORONTO Cruise. After all, we are the Toronto Protege Club and hardly get a chance to hang in the heart of this great city. I've coordinated a cruise that will take us through the city and will surely turn heads!

I invite any and all TOprotege members, new and old, to participate in this great event! Ask anyone, the "cruise" is one of the best parts of being in the club. The attention from onlookers is great.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who: The Toronto Protege Club members
What: Downtown Toronto Spring Cruise & Dinner
Where: Start at Humber Bay Park-West; End at Vinnie Zuchinnis for Dinner
When: Sunday June 11, 2006 Rain Date: Sunday June, 18
Time: 5 pm, Part 1 Start - 5:30 pm SHARP!, Part 2 Start - 6:30 pm SHARP!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a 2-Part cruise and Dinner. Since we will be moving through the city I ask that we always try to remain in the right lane, whenever possible, to allow traffic to move in the left lane. DO NOT ride beside the conga line of proteges and disrupt the flow of traffic.

There will be areas that have heavier traffic than others, I ask that if you do get seperated from the proteges in front of you, don't panick, and most importantly, don't break the speed limit trying to catch up. I will also ask everyone to cruise at 5km UNDER the speed limit, so to give a chance for the guys that stayed behind to catch up, and also weed out the other non-protege cars. **Everyone will be given the cruise route at the start (OR) you can print out this page and keep it handy for the cruise.

Ideally I would try to break up the group into groups of 5, BUT the effect I want to get as we cruise through the city is a "parade-like" feel of proteges coming down the street. We will cruise in a continuos line of cars and if you get stopped at a traffic light wait for the green before continuing on the route. IF you are the last car through an intersection DO NOT pull over the side of the road to wait for the others, continue with your group, the others will catch up as the cruise continues.

Cruise Starting Point
We will meet at Humber Bay Park-West at 5 pm, located 1 street West of Lakeshore Blvd and Park Lawn. NOTE: There is a EAST and WEST Humber Bay Park. (We will be meeting in the WEST park.) Once you enter the park stay to the left, the first parking lot on the left is wehere we will gather and prepare to depart.

PART 1 - Approx. 30 mins
Part one of this cruise begins at Humber Bay Park-West, we will exit the park and then head eastbound(right) on Lakeshore Blvd. We contine east until Bathurst St., where we will make a right. The next intersection, Queens Quay W, make a left (east) and continue straight until you pass Yonge St. There is a LCBO parking lot, on the left hand side, one street after Yonge, where we will stop for a photo op and break before continuing on the second part.

PART 2 - Approx. 55 mins
We depart from the LCBO parking lot and head west(RIGHT) on Queens Quay E to Yonge St. On yonge we will make a RIGHT (north) and head straight through the city on the busiest road. The cruise up Yonge St. will be the longest part, as there is a lot of traffic and parts where it will become heavier than others. We will continue on Yonge St. to Steeles Ave. (When you pass Mazda of Toronto, begin to change lanes so that you are able to make the turn) LEFT(west) on Steeles. Continue on Steeles Ave. to Dufferin (1 driveway before Dufferin is the entrace to Vinnie Zucchini's). Park in the lot.

Cruise End - Vinnie Zucchini's (Dinner) - 8 pm
Located on the north-east corner of Steeles & Dufferin, we will have dinner reservations for the number of people that are ON the list. **It is important for me to know who will be staying for dinner so that I can make the reservation accordingly.

EVERYONE PLEASE READ
**This is a CRUISE, NOT a race**. If you are not able to remain behind the vehicle in front of you, don't bother coming. All members are expected to read the cruise guidelines and agree to them. If at anytime, someone is observed NOT following the rules, you will not participate in any upcoming cruises. Remember that you will be representing TOprotege on this cruise and we expect everyone to have their heads on properly. This has the potential to be a great event, and it only take 1 person to ruin it for everyone.

REMEMBER TO BRING
- FRS Radio (two, if you have an extra one)
- Cameras for taking pictures/movies
- Full tank of gas

This event is a great way to kick-start the summer season and get out to meet other members. i hope to see a big turnout for this event, to make it a huge success. Clan reps should be setting up pre-meets, so watch out for those as we get closer to the event.

Hope to see you all there!

CRUISE ROUTE MAPS

In an effort to better illustrate this cruise, I've selected key points, where we will be making either turns or stopping so that everyone has a visual of the route.

Cruise Gather Point (START)

1st Cruise end point (LCBO) Note: Part 1 is the blue line and the Part 2 is the pink line

2nd cruise turn LEFT at steeles

Cruise end point (Dinner at Vinnie Zuchinni's)

Alright guys, It's time for me to clear the air about this cruise and let you guys know what it's about and the effect we're collectively looking to achieve here. What we want to do is get a large body of proteges traveling in sequence, with all the different colors zipping by, and they're all the same MODEL cars, it will turn heads.

BUT if we begin to add in rx8's mazd3, bikes and so on the effect is lost, and the whole point of the Protege cruise is lost.

I had previously posted that it would be OK for 1 person to bring a secondary vehicle BUT that idea went downhill pretty quickly, since there are others that have PM'd me about bringing secondary vehicles.

This is a TOprotege exclusive cruise, and we cannot have other types of vehicles acompany us on the cruise route at the same time or in our formation

Hope everyone is able to understand why it makes sense and realizes that it's the only way to keep this a true PROTEGE cruise.

BTW The signups look great so far!

w3rd. It'll look much more pimp with all pros. Everyone should understand that's the point of the cruise. I'm sure nobody will get upset about that. If anyone does....remember, you can always ride along with someone.

IMPORTANT NOTE

The Part 2 cruise start time has been moved forward 30 mins to begin at 6:30pm instead of 7.

The reason for this bump up is that Vinnie Zuchinni's closes at 9:30 pm and I want to be sure that we will get there by or before 8pm to have enough time for dinner.

Is it me, or did the Part 2 departure time change from 7PM to 6:30PM? I'm off work at 6, and may not be able to make it on time...
