HID conversion

Going to xenon is something I've always wanted to do, but have been put off by the price. However, a friend of mine recently picked up an HID conversion kit with bulbs and everything for around $35 on ebay. He installed them and they seem to work, although he hasn't driven at night yet so no word on visibility. Wondering if anyone else has gone this route and what happened. For that price I'd love to do it, but not sure if it's too good to be true.

Edit: I wouldn't buy anything off E-bay unless it was solid plastic or came with a receipt/brand name.

While for that cheap you may be getting more light output, you're also endangering other drivers as the headlights in these cars were not made for HID's and do not have the proper cut off.

Do a retrofit, and if you can't afford it, then save up for it. This is what I'll be doing.

the cut off on the sedan headlight is really good, and HIDs create no glare / excessive hotspots.

I ran HID's in my car for 3 years and never got high beamed.

Jeff, the poster above you lives in London not the GTA. I imagine the light output is significantly more glary due to the lack of any interuptions and the abundance of bunkwater reflection.

I would love to see the cutoff using OEM headlamp assemblies, if it's even visible like real projectors.. being flashed or not is not an indication if you're outputting the light correctly.

I think a lot of people even overlook the headlamps usually needing to be realigned after lowering too, because most lowering springs are different heights front to back (more often lower in the back) which can cause headlamps to aim higher than stock, even without HID's.

The smallest things make a difference, regardless if someone tells you or not :/
