Little Help with Tire Dot Code

I decided to check some of my tires for dates.

look for the DOT then find the last four numbers and that's your week and year they were made.

also 4 digits is after 2000 and 3 digits are before. If it has a triangle beside it, it's the 90's if it doesn't it's the 80's.

Here's my code on a set of Michelin's

DOT 4M49 D79 X 378

Nothing else on the tire inside and out, besides size, brand, ratings and warnings.

does that code make sense?

Speed is just a question of money... How fast do you want to go?

FAST, CHEAP, RELIABLE..... Pick two. Just don't pick cheap.

Doesn't sound like the proper DOT, check both sides of the tire. I know some tires i've had in the past i've really had to really look for it.

Wrong side of the tire... if there isn't 4 digits at the end.. check the other side.

4202 = 42nd week of 2002... 42/52=0.80*12= End of September.

It's possible the tires are from before the year 2000 as you mentioned when they only used 3 digit codes, not 4.

378 would mean 37th week of the 8th year of the decade (1997?)

That would make those fairly old tires
