I don't know about you guys, but it REALLY pisses me off that I have to turn the key into the start position to get the windows to work!! Does anyone know how to rewire them so that they work when the key is in the ACC position? http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Here is a thread of how to have them always on

THREAD (http://forum.protegemp3.com/vbb222/showthread.php?t=36875)

I want them to work like my old car. 15 min after the ignition was turned off or untill any door was open.

Edit:
Ya that's pretty easy.

Now that would be great! Wouldn't that require some sort of relay though?

Hmmm... I was just reading that thread and I'm a bit concerned about the auto window LED staying lit all the time. It seems that it's more of a nusiance than a real problem. What I'm really looking for is a way to power the windows when the ignition is turned to either ACC or on only. I don't want them to work when the car is turned totally off.

Does anyone have access to a wiring diagram for the windows? If I can get this I'll play around with it.

only problem ican see from a security standpoint is that if you have the window down like 1/2 inch, it's easy to push a coathanger through and roll the window down the rest of the way (since it's always powered). however, no one would ever assume that your power windows would be operational without the key. they'd probably just pop the doorhandle off and open your door that way anyway.. http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I did this the other week.

People are just crazy to whine about an led on the button. My alarm LED probably uses more power (not to mention the alarm) than this led. If you dont want to see it, open your door and pull the lightbulb out.

It works great though!

Thanks Phil, I figured it didn't use too much power, but like I said the light might piss me off and I'm too lazy to take the door off to remove the bulb http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif . I'm going to do it anyways sometime this week.

Edit: I'm going to do the moonroof at the same time as well.

Somebody did the math on that how-to and it would take 1 year (or more) of having your car sit before the LED would drain the battery enough to notice.

My only advice on this issue is to have a really small jewlers screwdriver around to poke the wire out of the harness. I think the guy said you could do it with a toothpick, but I can tell you that a toothpick would never work.

Otherwise, great little mod, easy to do and undo. It is a bit creepy at first but you get over the auto light being on after about 1 day. You could always pull the fuse, I think that would cut it too.

I want to make it so the moon roof controls are "one touch" like in my buds IS300.

you know touch it once and it opens fully.

always wanted to do this but never had the motivation. I now have plans this weekend http://ib2.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Did it and it worked perfectly. Really nice mod. Now I'm going to see if I can hook up the p/windows to the alarm aux remote. Then I'm golden.

For those that want to tackle the sun roof. It's a bit more complicated.
