I picked up driving lights today from CT (55W bulbs). Got them mounted where I want them. All that's left for the mounting part is to cut out the grilles that were there to re-fit behind the lights. I didn't want to go with a large light in there because I wanted to preserve the airflow through into the CAI.
As for wiring, the lights themselves didn't come with a relay and I didn't want lots of power flowing through the firewall to my switch. So here's what I want to do and so far how I plan to do it. All switches will be mounted on the shifter console beside and in front of the shifter. I have small 6A switches from Radio Shack.
- One on/off toggle switch probably hooked into the deck power.
- Two temporary interrupt switches in parallel to two relays in the engine bay - one for each light. I want to do this so I can flash people without turning the lights on and off, and I want to be able to control each light independently (i.e. alternating side to side interrupts so it could "look" like cop lights but of course I'll only do this in parking lots I swear).
- inline 15A fuse for both lights just off the battery, before power is split to each relay for the light power.
My questions are:
1) is there a simpler way to do this?%
