Hi guys, I am picking new rims for my 03 pure white p5. I've narrowed down to 3 selections

Ro_Ja formula 5

Ro_Ja formula 7

Advan Model 7

The color choice is gun metal for all 3, since I find it very suitable for a white P5. All these rims are very expensive so I better pick a set that I won't regret http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Those RO_JA rims are all 2 piece wheels when 18" ++ and 17" is single piece. Advans are single piece only. What size is most suitable you think? I am thinking to go 18x7.5 all around with the advans, or 18x7.5 or 17x7.5/18x7.5 or 18x7/18x9 (afraid this might not fit) with the Ro_Ja's. Please help me select! Thanks in advance!

ps. What's the bolt pattern for the p5? Any tire recommendations?

I say go with the RO_JA 5-spoke in 17's
18's will leave you with very little tire and you'll always be worrying about wrecking the rims when goign over train tracks or anything.

I think the RO_JA's might be forged which is why they cost so much ... so you'll get better value from that than the ADVAN's where you spend all your money on the charges to ship them, etc.

Plus you can use the same wheels as Roger Foo in the Speed World Challenge series. Do they make them in the right size for the P5? ... I can't get the flash navigation on their site to show up right now.

The problem is 17" for the Ro_Ja wheels are single piece only! I love the look of those 2 piece wheels that make your bodykit look wider http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Try this Ro_Ja site in html

I'd go for the RO_JA Formula 7, but after looking at the specs, they won't fit my protege5 cuz i lowered it. they will fit with modifications though.

infiniti: are you planning on lowering your car? if you are, please make sure you take into big consideration the OFFSET of the P5. you need at least a 47+ or 48+ offset if you lower your car. any less and you will rub your tires against the inner part of the fender. the rim size you should get is 17" x 7 with a 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern and 205/40/17 tires.

I won't lower my car anytime soon, at least I want to see how the rims fit first. I could get the bodyshop to roll the fenders for me I suppose, going 17" I understand is best in performance/appearance aspect, but I really wish to get 18" to "show off" my wheels http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif In fact if anyone can post a quick follow up to this tread I'd really appreciate it. I am heading to the rim shop in a few, hopefully make the right choice! Thanks again for all your help!

Just got back from the rim shop, unfortunately they can't check the prices on saturday, but they expect each RO_JA Formula 5/7 18" to cost ~ $695 and 17 for ~$595. They don't have the # for the advans at this time. The installation is free, tax is 14.5%. Guess I have a couple more days to decide..

"the rim shop" ... can you be more specific? http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

oh, also.. if you get 18's you should get a big brake kit so the stock calipers and rotors don't look so itty bitty

just remember that if you lower your car AFTERWARDS, then your rims may still not fit. you should really take into consideration the potential of lowering your car and getting the best possible fit.

I really like the look of the Advans. But I gotta say I don't like 'em in gun metal. Every time I see a car with gun metal rims I think to myself "nice wheels - they'd look even better if the brake dust was washed off..."

Some gunmetals look better than others .. I prefer the lighter shades as it seems every company has their own interpretation of what colour "gunmetal" is.

Of course, everyone knows the best match on a white car is gold wheels http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

hehe, well the "rim shop" is really a local bodyshop that prioritizes in rims. They're simply one of the very few shops around this tiny town (Victoria). I am leaning heavily toward the Formula 5 now. I love Advans but there seems to be abundant replicas (eg. Motegi MR-7) here and there. I love the Formula 7's too but have been getting wide opinions on those rims. Formula 5's been getting good responses so far, and I personally like them a lot too, a cleaner version of formula 7. If I can keep my mind determined till monday, I will break my piggy bank and just go ahead to buy them.

As far as lowering goes, I guess I won't bother. Since my bodykit (Autoexe) will arrive next week which should make the ride look lower. With the 18" 2 piece rims, the wheel gap will be minimal. I will likely purchase some brembo cross-drilled rotors and paint the calipers (maybe add brembo stickers hah). I will post some pics when all the jobs are done. Looking forward! http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
