I have the opportunity to buy some good snow tires/steelies real cheap... they're 195/60/15s. However, they used to be on a 1999 Prelude. I checked it out and stock Prelude rims are 205/50/16 while ours are just a little skinnier. Hmmm. Does anyone know if these will fit properly?

The sizing and calibration for speedometer seem okay. But the trial and error will lie in the bolt pattern and the offset. Try one on is my guess. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

The outside diameter is too high.
You need 195/55/15

i found this cool site where you can enter in your stock wheels and enter in the new wheels and do a comparison and it will show you the amount of mph or kph you will be off by.....check it out....

there's also this wheel offset calculator i found, not sure how accurate it is, but if it's accurate, then it might come in handy.

i'm in the same dilemma right now, and have been doing a little research about this...i used to own a 99 Lude and still have the set of winter rims i used (195/60/15)...i haven't tried them on as i've only had my P5 for about 2 weeks, but they will technically fit because both cars have the same specs for the most part...both have 55 offset and both are 5x11.4 bolt pattern...but from what i've learned the problem lies with the centre bores being different sizes...this will result in the rims/tires not seating properly...i've been told that this isn't the safest situation, but in theory would still work...
i'll have to look into it a little more before i decide if i'll keep what i have or sell them and put it towards a new set...hope that helps a bit...

I called around about this, and someone let me know if this is true or not...
apparently, it doesnt matter that the center bore is different because we're using 5 bolt rims. Doesnt make sense but a tire store owner told me that its only an issue with 4 bolt applications.
Anyways, sounds fishy. Anyone know where I can get centering rings?

Mazdaspeed (Alan) works at Oakville Mazda and is getting a price quote for us. However, you're still welcome to get a quote too. These steelies are designed specifically for the Protege5 (maybe sedan). I think Alan said it would be less than $40 each (don't quote me on that yet... )

The centering ring is not going to work on our cars.
The center bore on our car is 67.1mm while the one on the prelude is much smaller. So a centering ring won't do anything for you. It'll work if it's the other way around...use a P5 rim on a prelude then the ring can be used to fill in the extra space.
I was in the exact same situation...friend of mine has a new set of prelude steelies in his garage and he'll let them go for $50. But I don't want to take the risk of loosing a wheel so I bought new wheels from Mazda.

Cry... thanks for the info... I always assumed that the Prelude center bore would be bigger the Prelude is a big pig of a car lol like a Civic that ate too many candies and fried foods
