I may have posted this last week but I just came off of nighshift and I am sleepy. Someone PM or email me or post something if you are fairly smart on the subject.

Remember I operate on Ghetto Values, so the Walmart, Zellers and Cdn Tire store brands where I can get points and great exchange privileges is of utmost importance.

Go to Wal mart ...audiovox for $25 or something. Takes 4 AAA batteries. works well.... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

There are a few things you should look for in an FRS but since you are on a budget just make sure the FRS you get has sub-channels.

If you go low end at Zellers pick up a Cobra.

if you're on a budget, then i would have to agree w/ Dave that you should find one that has subchannels, everything else (vibrate, weather channel, private talk, etc) is just an added bonus

mind you, the cheaper you go, the crappier the reception, but if you don't mind the crappier reception then they're okay

Reception is good on the audiovox....and sub channels are just an added bonus also...in my opinion cuz in most cases we don't need to use them. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

remember, the official toprotege frequency is 3.23 so sub-channels are a _must_

Thanks alot guys, I've heard of some of the crew using them at meets. I've seen some packages that come in two's or just a single unit.

I'll try radioshack and then compare prices, selection and warranty with Walmart.

Up here in Shaolin we are modernizing slowly. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

if you're super ghetto cheap, then you can pull the cheapest trip around.......buy it at walmart, use it for the few days that you need it, then return complaining that it's not what you are looking for........their "no hassle" return policy works wonders for scammers..........hahahahaha.......... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

I think i asked this before but did not get an answer.
I am familiar with CB radios (citizens band) they have 40 channels but whats an FRS radio?
I know what the acronym stands for but not sure exactly what it is. I have a walkie talkie that has like a 400 meter range and 12 channels, is that it or is there some other different units that you guys are talking about.
The subchannel thing sounds somewhat more advanced than the ones I have.
Please post.
Thx
