I've purchased an amp a while back 4 my "future" car. Now that I have my P5 I'm going to slowly install better audio components. If there is a stock AMP for the car audio, then 4 now i could replace it with this Coustic 161SE amp which is a better quality amp. If anyone knows where it's located let me know. I'm asking since a friend of mine has found his stok audio AMP in his acura 1.6 EL. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif

The amp is built-in to the headunit, so there is no way to replace it.
For a temporary solution, as long as your amp has high-level inputs, you could run the speaker leads from the stock HU directly into the amp and then out to your speakers.
If you're still running stock speakers though, don't bother. Increasing the power output is not going to do very much, and you could overload the drivers.
Your friend's EL must have come with an upgraded audio system... most cars do not have a discrete amplifier from the factory.

wow nice amp http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
I noticed it's a 2 channel. you could run your 2 front door speakers off of it but i'd recommend replacing the stock ones with a decent set of component speakers. what can our stock speakers take? I believe it's 25rms?
found these specs on the amp (so others can post some suggestions):

I'm in the same boat as you, looking at upgrading the stereo. i'm gonna replace the HU, run the stock speakers directly off of it, and use a 2 channel amp bridged to 1 channel to run a 12'' sub. good luck with the audio system!
