What is the bolt pattern on the LX 2.0. Is it 4x100 or 4x114.3.

Also what is the difference between say a 17"x8.5" 17"x8" 17"x7.5" 17"x7" etc etc...and if there is a difference, what are the advantages to the different sizes? Does it affect the offset if it is a different size?

Thanks... http://toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif

See the Protegé FAQ: http://web2.airmail.net/emann/protegefaq/
(go to Model Info, and scroll down to "What stock wheel and tire combinations have been available on the Protegé?")

Your LX 2.0 has 16x6 P195/55R15 +45 mm wheels
Bolt pattern is 4x100 mm.

Those wheels are all 17" tall but different widths.
The wider wheel you get the wider tire you can put on it and the more rubber you can get on the road.

I know that it's possible to fit 7.5" wide wheels on a Protege5 if they have a +48 offset but I don't really know much about the requirements for the sedans (could maybe be able to use a lower offset wheel).

Wheels usually get more expensive as they get wider as well. I don't see why you would need to look at anything over a 7.5" width. 17x7 is a pretty typical size so you should have lots of choices.

For reference, the MP3 has 17x7 wheels with +50 offset.
(Of course the MP3 suspension is a bit different than normal).
