Here in Shaolin we don't have too much rice technology. I am hiding behind the abbots desk using his portable notebook. I guess I'll have to show you guys at the next meet.

And by the way, It just runs from the stock Airbox with a K&N inside and down the driver side fender and below the foglight. I had to peirce the splash guard too. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

Aww, don't tell me your doing that, or have done it...That looks so cheap and ugly. I saw a friend of a friends car(I think a 91 Civic), that he did that to and I couldn't stop laughing cause it looked so funny. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

just to clarify...i didn't mean anything by the term afro-rigged....let me explain....back in high school...i used to have a kinda afro....and i was known for making minor adjustments and on the fly changes on projects and stuff at the last minute...they tended to look like shit....but they worked...and that came to be named..."afro-rigging" in my group of friends....named after me....nothing was intended by the term...and i apologize for any misconceptions.... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Leave it to a WESTSIDE brother like Jesse to set things straight with another WESTSIDE brotha (Brotha cause Car Demon's not only black but also half Asian in spirit - Shaolin stylz).

Jesse!
No harm intended my way.
But if you ever ,ever, ever, ever call my car a 'HOOCHIE', then I'll have to become a Shaolin Assassin.

We all need to get Josh's(Gen1's GT's) legal disclaimer at the end of our posts.

As for the performance aspect.
I have felt a real difference from the mid 2000rmp-3000+rpm range. There is a torquiness* and kick back power felt of which I can't explain.

Like a previous post by Chops and another fellow, I forget I was surprised that my RPMs stayed relatively the same. Hmmm I just thought the engine would work less, but probabbly it just works more efficient in something else I can't explain. Can anyone shed some light on the improvement of any CAI or Ram Air and their intended purpose.

The 3" diameter flexed aluminum in my mind just scoops up the air and makes it soo rippled and turbulent as it becomes force fed into my stock airbox. I do have a K&N airfilter and I did move my coolant resevoir tank bracket over a notch.

I was told that I may want to put a mini mesh over my duct that portrudes ever so slightly underneath my fog so that varmits don't seek shelter there. Maybe I should drill some holes for water escape just in case I drive throught a 12" puddle.

I do plan on taking it off for the winter and before my next servicing in December so the technicians at Mazda don't laugh their asses off. I have pride too!!! How do I explain the splash guard hole though. They'll probably realize what I had going on anyways. Screw them. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif
Next year hopefully at the Slaloms I'll do a dual duct intake. Yeah and I'll take of the Toprotege stickers off my car so I won't embarass the club.

If anyone wants to do this to their ride, don't be embarassed, you can PM me. I have an extra aluminum flexpipe. All you need is two clamps to go over the 3" diameter tubing and an elbow joint which may be PVC piping or Aluminum Duct Piping in a L shape to come out the bottom of the car. It is very simple, just the way a Shaolin Monk would want it.

Listen some of you bastards out there, I sort of feel a little ghetto, but I can get away with it as my car has the gold plated Kleenex Box, Crown Air Freshener and a sticker called 'Rice'. Soon all the Bramladesh, Malton and Rexdale dudes will be doing it to there old school Camry's and Accords.

Digital Camera Anyone?
Here in Shaolin we are limited to worldly technological advances. I still go to the well to get my daily fresh water.

My freehand sketches of my Ghetto Rice intake system could be photocopied and mailed by pigeons to the door steps of anyone in the GTA.

As a matter of fact, the sheer simplicity may make many of you Shaolin outsiders laugh. Is it worth displaying on the board or would you like to laugh and roll in person as I will have the tear in my eye of Shaolin Shame.

Ooooops!
Well water...,uhm.., internet access..,,uhmm
The internet access is what I've been sneaking.
It is the portable notebook of the Abbots. I have the secret power of invisibility. Yeah that's it. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

I'm gonna rename my project to COLDRAM intake. I guess it has elements of a shortram and a true cold air pathway combined into one.

Trust me people, I must state that you'll laugh at me and the technology is that of a grade 6 science fair project.

How much is a cheap yet modest digital camera anyway? I'm talking about the Walmart brands or anything at all.

Perhaps I'll trade in my Shaolin beads as currency.

CarDemon .. you have a video camera ... you have a computer. Just take some vids of your mod and load them in and compress them with divx or something!

Okay everyone.
A fellow TPC member has been generous enough to take time out of his schedule to assist me putting togther a digital photograph to post up. This will be done on friday of which I'll meet Harold (Evolution IV)

As for my video camera. That belongs to someone else although it is in my soul possession. Don't ask. I was once part of street cartels, pimps, players and hustlers until the Monestary took me in and showed me the Shaolin Way. As for the transferring from video to my computer.., that is way out of my league.

However, I would like to learn on how to plug in my record player turntable and mixer to take my oldies off of vinyl. That's right my good ole hip-hop an R&B songs need to be updated to a better format.

I would also like to know how to record analogue onto digital. Being a dj, I have 500 or so wekkits I wouldn't mind having on MP3, or my mix-tape on MP3 too(so share with the world). Mike, power to ya for being inovative, and savin some cizash too.

If you're going to transfer music like that, be prepared to spend a LOT of time on it. You have to playback each song in realtime as opposed to ripping digital data from a CD. Then you have editing (like removing silences), if you want to clean up any hiss or popping that will take processing time, and THEN>>>>>>>>>>>>> you have to convert your wave format recordings to MP3, which can take a while too depending on your PC's ability to crunch numbers.

For wave recording, always go 44.1KHz 16bit stereo, and when you convert to MP3, make sure its at least 160kbps constant bitrate or you'll hear underwater warbling reverb.

I did this before for my grandmothers favourite Johnny Cash album. I don't remember how long it took me but I probably could have built a small house in the same amount of time http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

They can laugh all they want at you my brother while following your tail-lights! Good job! Little money and a lot of initiative is the only way that engineering progresses.
