Last night I made my first IKEA invasion since getting the P5,.... I noticed quite a few other P5s in the lot,..... parked beside a nice dark blue one.

Anyway,.... I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem:
After stuffing the back of the car with assorted giant boxes of assemble-it-yourself-pine and pressboard junk, I went to tie the back lid down (stuff was sticking out of course) and..... there is no hole on the lid to tie anything to! Aaauuuuuuugh!

I ended up threading some twine through an empty bolt hole on the licence plate,...... but that's lame. Why isn't there a tie-down hole on that lid?

Ian I have you solution.

Buy a small but very strong carabeener(SP?) - you know... those small clips used by MTN climbers - MEC (moutain equipment co-op has some good ones). Press the clip into the locking mechanism and it will lock around the clip. Thread a rope though the clip and tie it off on the loop on the top of the bumper. I've done this before with good results. To release the caribeener just depress the hatch's handle.

Tip; compliments of the WESTSIDE.

Damn it,........ I guess thanks go to westside ....again.
That's a great solution,.... and I've already got some of those clips laying around. I'll try it out right now.

Thanks Dave!

Works great!
Those clips are now a permanent fixture on my ride. Don't know how I ever got by without them before.

thanks again

As always, Dave is doing a wonderful job reppin' the WESTSIDE and edumacating all of the other clans. I would like to add that this little WESTSIDE trick is very innovative and can be used for all generation Protege's. Good job, Dave. Keep up the good work. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
