OK ive been slacking on the newsletter and I apologize but organizing the Windsor trip with Ross and then the other club stuff ontop of a night shift (and if youve worked one youd understand how your life goes to hell) has eaten up my time for the club.
So now im getting on with it and gonna work on a bigger and better version of the newsletter. I have some ideas of what I want but if anyone would like to submit any kinda idea or article please post your ideas up on here and then we can work on it.
DAVE (MP5Navy): If you have any of your how-to's saved somewhere can you email me a couple, if you have pics for any of them thatd be sweet ass too. Cuz i wanna put at least one in.
Simon (7plymaple): Would you be willing to write an article on toprotege's year of slaloms? How people did, whut everyone learned, who, what, when, where, why? You know the deal.....Itd be great if you could.
Anyone wanna write about the car shows we've been in. I went to both Darknights and Windsor but if someone else who went to both would like to write about them im more than willing to let someone else write...give someone else a chance.
Post your ideas and if you have submissions you can email em to me.

I think it might be a good idea to do bios of people, and their cars. Maybe you could start with the 'Original6'?

I would like to see a write-up on MP5 Navy's childhood and how he became the grown up child he is today. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
I want the true 'E' Korean inside edition of how certain trauma's made him the online verbal six-pack gunslinger and who will most likely take him out.

On a more serious note from myself. I like to do creative writing, write personal interest stories and issues of the day. I wouldn't mind doing a bio on someone special or not too special also.

Uhhhhhhhm, if I may add that I'm Westside too. :| But I guess you were directing that to the punks. I know it tarnishes us, but there are some noble ones left amongst the rif raff.
As for chosing a person to do a bio on, it just seemed that no one was that special. Just joking, I will have to think hard.

It would be nice to have a little section welcoming new members. While blowing the horn on the originals is good its the welcomes and recognition that encourages new members to join.
Please edit thorougly any editorials coming from the westside. How-to's are great but the rest... except CarDemon's his shaolin ways have made him very sensible and caring... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks for the encouraging and kind words. I plan to eventually convert some of you to Shaolinism; each to his own degree and in his/her own way.
Shaolinism is a state of mind encompassing many righteous ways of acting it is just being more conscious of what we say and do, but all in context.
As for the biographies, I think I'll go out on a limb and chose somone fairly interesting and just interview them. I agree in that it should not probably be focused around the well established members, but a darkhorse with some hidden talent, story or accomplishment.
Perhaps a lizard creature, a seadooguy, Als, pawood. Pawood(Peter) would be very interesting as it would literally be a lesson in early history of__. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Well, looks like we have a true winner!
The bio will be on Paul the Lizardman on our TPC board.
The creative writing has begun and I'll be figuring out how to make this fun and a hearty comical yet serious read for all.
I'll meet up with the Lizardman soon or give him a call. Trust me my fellow TPC members, I don't want this to turn out to be a Brona's Diary on City T.V. It's gonna be like an Inside Edition.

Kurt for the HOW-TO section do you want me to do something wild or mild? ex: Aftermarket seat install vs. How to change you bulbs?
I'll take pics whenever I can. I haven't been bringing my camera out but I'll start doing just that. I'll do some calls for photo shoots in small groups. I'll take these small groups to different areas of Toronto To make the pictures have a more intimate feel. Photographers can take a small donation from all the people in these small photo shoots to just cover the cost of film and processing - this will keep things simple. I'll create an archive of hardcopy pictures and Kurt when you need a certain image you and I could do a search for it.

curious...
will this be an online (pdf) type of document, or something that is all hardcopy and handed out at the meets...
perhaps a hard copy for a meet, and then a few days later have it available online via pdf.
I'm just mention the PDF cuz alot of people might not be able to get a printed version, and also, paper=dead trees - and the environmentalists among TPC might get upity.

Kurt, what program are you using to make the newsletter... i know that illustrator does pdf conversions from their native format... i used to do layouts like that all the time, well, until the job ended...
i'm pretty sure word and quark do it too, but you need to have the acrobat software, not just the reader...

Dave why don't you do the "How to" on Ractive intakes or light bulbs so that those questions don't come up anymore. lol

if ANYBODY has an idea for an article, just write it up and send it to Kurt. all members articles are allowed to be published in the newsletter. of course they will be reviewed and edited by Kurt, but all submissions will most likely get published. these articles can range from personal experiences in the club, HOW-TOs, news about new Mazda cars, past meets and events, upcoming group buys, new products, new vendors and product reviews (we also have a products review on our website, so if you want to write a review, do it and send it to rowan for posting).

I think I'd be able to write an article on the history of the Protege Generation One. I know most of you prolly don't give a rats' patootie, but that's what I know about. Just a thought, let me know what ya'll think

guys you can save PDF files using quarkxpress
- you can achieve this if you have quarkxpress 5 if you do.... go to file then toggle down to "export" then convert your file to a PDF file. this a new feature in quark 5 ...
- if you dont have the latest version of quark have no fear you can still save a file to a PDF file format.
- save text and picture file to a post script file from quark.( you do this on the option box before you print your work go to post script if you dont have post script you have to go to add printer and install post script.)
- then distil your file using acrobat distilor.
- then save your file as a PDF file
