as some of you know, I'm a mazda virgin... hahahaha...

well, i worked in the automotive industry for years now, and I keep hearing about the melted headlight wiring harnesses.  so here are few questions...

1). when i worked selling "speed toys" or the "fast and furious" accessories, i have come across multitude of older 323s, Proteges and even Millenias that didnt take any aftermarket bulbs very well.  It seems quite common that using 80w low beam bulbs will melt some connectors and wiring on P5s (I read some of the old posts, hehehehe).  But i know of a Millenia that had a harness ruined using a set of 55w (normal wattage) Eurolite bulbs.  So my question is... what gives?   I want to hear whether or not is is SAFE to use regular wattage aftermarket bulbs.  What's the deal?

2). any P5s with H7 retrofit HID kits?  I was wondering how does the wiring harness behave (the melting problem) and how is the light pattern in the O.E. headlight housings.

cheers

No bad experiences from my cars yet.

00 protege
90 protege
93 rx7

using aftermarket bulbs (HID) name on the box.

00 protoge lighting with these bulbs were better than stock, whiter, brighter on the road.

90 protege did not notice any difference in lighting.

rx7 a little better than stock although I'm using both aftermarket bulbs on both headlight and fogs. and notice when I have the fogs on with the headlights, it dims.

I won't go back to regular bulbs that gives off yellow lighting...

Even the cool blues that are on the MPV was worth the money.. We'll see what it does on the MX6.

I've been using after market bulb 2 months after I purchased my car. Nothing has gone wrong yet. Except I did learn that Eurolites burn out at about 8 month intervals and NG Tec bulbs are crap.
