MazdaSpeed Protege opinions?

Guys this is the first time I have been on this site so I am looking for some answers. I am really interested in the MazdaSpeed Protege but not sure if its worth the money or if its better to buy a 5 and upgrade it. What is everyone's opinion on that? I honestly know very little about Mazda cars since I have been playing with J-bodies for the last 5 years.

I put a deposit down on one today and they said it should be in around late November sometime. However if its not worth it I can still get out of it, I dont think I will want to but thats why I am here http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I think ur very lucky.. I wish i could of waited for the Mazdaspeed Protege!!
It should be here by Oct cus most of the mods are done at the racing beat place located in CAL...If ur not sure what u should do..Go to the auto show at Geogian Collageat at barrie... They have both the Mazda 6 and the mazdaspeed Prot there.!!
If you go the Mazdausa.com site u will find some more info..
Lets just say Its a fully mod car from the factory.. u won't void ur warrannty... and i mean right now the car is really really detuned... once u slap a boost controller on the car u can hit 200hp.  

P-5 is good.. but don't get me wrong.. The amount of money that u'll spend to make ur P-5 like the mazdaspeed.. its going to cost u tones of money....

Oh one more thing.. just make sure the dealer that u made ur deposite doesn't make u get 1000 for tint and rust .. cus i heard stories

I've gotten word from my dealership that they have one coming, ever since he told me I've been on the look out for a moose to run into, all over the roads up here until you want to hit 'em. SCC said it is even better than the integra's, that's gotta be good.

i heard AMAZING things about the new mazdaspeed protege! it beats the porche 911 in slolom!! and the interior is very SEXY!!! plus ud be the only one for like a year =)

Not too gloat but the MP3 beat everyone like that in the slalom too - except for the Lotus

Good luck on getting the car - but be warned tack on a month to whenever they say those cars will be delivered

I just noticed small prints in the msp ad saying it will be available in 4th quarter in 2002, i.e. it can be any time between Oct to Dec. I heard the orange ones have arrived, so it should not be too long.

Just note that rumours have it that the next generation of msp will be in grey and yellow (not sure which one will come to Canada). If you are 'if-y' about getting an orange car, you might want to wait another 6 months or so. Who knows? Well, the MP3 is definitely a sweet-ass ride. Also tekkie, just so you know...the Mazdaspeed Protege set Sport Compact Cars' record for slalom(72MPh I think?), by a factory car. AND in one of the big car mags(Road & Track, Car & Driver..one of those...), they say that the MSP FEELS faster than WRX(although it's not)....
