Ok......... a bit about the intake......

The more bends you put on the pipe the less gain you get. Yes it looks nice and cool and it just doesnt work. By the time air gets to ur engine it wormed up and restricted byall the bends in ur piping. what i would do is keep the reactive as is now and just change ur filter to K&N. This will improve some HPs.

i wasn't thinkin a huge pipe just something that can move my filter about 5-6 inch lower.. but ya a k&n sounds good.. what is a good price for one of those and wheres a cHEAP place to get one?

I was thinking for our cars make the top closed and the bottom open with a duct going straight down under the rad and bumper and pointing forward so air will kind of get rammed up there just enough to cool down the box.

Try http://www.vibrantperformance.com , they may have extension universal pipes to turn any short ram into a CAI.

Yeah, as Tom said, just replace the filter with a K&N ($70 up) and you should get better performance. As I've mentioned in the other thread called "Air Intake", the Ractive pipe is okay. It's the air filter that's gotta go. A lot of Protege enthusiasts down south have done it and it really works... If you still want that extension piece however, I believe Ractive only carries them for their other intake system that comes with a heatshield.

Here's a mod originated by Ross (P5 2 NV) that I also performed on my car that you might want to entertain.

Look under the car - just to the left of the engine.

You will see a spash guard that has an opening that is ~6'' wide.

Goto home depot and buy a dryer duct (it will have a flap that you will not be needing) The dryer duct size is ~5'' x 2''.
Also buy a 4'' PVC tube. You should be able to locate a small piece that's around 12'' long. The dryer duct and the 4'' PVC tube should fit together.

Go home and bolt up the duct into the opening of the splash guard and cut the PVC tube so that its opening cups the bottom of the intake's filter (you can cut the PVC tube to make the gap b/w tube and filter smaller).

Once all is measured out install glue the PVC tube to the duct.

BTW removing the splash guard will be necessary to install this air duct.

I dunno if I felt a noticeable gain but your ass wouldn't feel a difference unless the gain was around 5hp Plus I had an AEM short ram so I'm probably not getting a lot more hp. Oh and if you have the Ractive intake be sure to bend it down and not sitting up top so this duct will blow air better.

Do you understand what I said MixedAzn? If confused do you best to make it to a meet cause you'll learn more there than here on the board.

To the clubmates... ever notice how anxious all the newbies are to get info? Whatever happened to being a patient gentleman! LOL http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

That's another good option, Navy.. Did it on my G2 a few years ago also. Very reasonable upgrade and functional... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

I have the reactive intake with the heat sheild filter.. and then added some dryer pipe at the little hole located around the coolent overflow bottle.. and it worked way better then that filter that came with the normal intake.

I know what u guys mean.. less bend is better.. but a pipe is a pipe..

The AEM one is a rip... Even at dealer cost...
i mean reactive is not what u called a name brand.. but it works.. and its cheap.... so i guess its ok.. ^_^

sorry if i made anyone unhappy..
