In the Projects of Bramledesh some of us live from cheque to cheque and still sell the prod. hand to hand as da man still oppresses us. So I went out to scout some individual pricing structures on winter tires.

First of all I think that the 15 steelies @ AVANTE for $35.00/pc is the best if I'm correct. If not, somebody posted $40.00/pc and then that is the next best. Don't even think about WalMart who want $47.97/pc.

The Dimensions of 195/55/15's are RARE as hell but the 195/60/15's are COMMON and will throw of the speedometer OFF SLIGHTLY and will fit in the stock P5 wheel wells ok for those of us who didn't have Al QUEIDA or TRIAD $$$ to lower our suspensions.

So here are my tire finding sizes for 195/60/15's..,

WALMART
Wintermark MagnaGrip HT $75.98+tax
---------------------------
CDN TIRE
Nordic IceTrac $90.99+tax
----------------------------
REALS METRO TIRE (Bramalea 157 East Dr.)
Cavalier WinterKings $95.00+tax
Cooper SnowMarks $89.00+tax
-----------------------------
TIRE WORLD (Bramalea Steeles& Melanie Dr.)
Cooper SnowMarks $89.00+tax
Cavalier$95.00+tax
Cooper WeatherMaster$89.00+tax
FireStone WinterFires$96.00+tax

Take note that I was told by 2 of the independent chains that the CAVALIER is a great winter tire and is a BFG/Michelin 'Off Brand' with the basic same tread design but a different stamp and a slightly thinner sidewall, but that is what the money gets you.

The Cooper SnowMarks are the same as the WalMart Brand and a MotoMaster with different Stampings.I'm not too sure about the Nordic IceTracs which I have had good results with in the past in a 14 series on an Accord.I'm sure somebody reputable makes them for CDN TIRE. Any insider should be able to tell you.

Another Sleeper Brand and Make that I've heard raving reviews about are the Firestone WinterFires. For the PRICE they are DURABLE and have exceptional capabilities. They are overshadowed by the hype of its star sibbling technology and ultra mega superstar performance of the Blizzaks. But I'm just a hustler anyways.

These prices are just written over-the-counter quotes on business cards and ARE NOT GROUP DEALS. Perhaps if there is enough interest, flat rates and deals could be applied. I didn't even ask about installation too.

Any info on these brands and places to get them at better prices would be appreciated. Feel free to send me websites so I can read up further on the technology, performance and testimonials too. Also note that most of the dealers visited said that in the next 2-3wks they will have a better catalogued selection and newer brands in. But what do I care.!!!!

Saw an add in the Toronto Star too, Bramalea City Tire posting a deal for a 17" wheel/tire package at around $1100 for others who may be interested...

Whoooooooaaaa!!!
I stated budget minded ghetto suburban thugs.

The 'word on the curb' is that we may all just end up doing a group steelie buy period, and then everyone fend of themself for their individual tires.

My purchase won't probably be until early to mid November guaging the drastic drop in temp. or  freak blizzard. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

Damn, I found a spelling mistake and hopefully stopped the transmission.!!! http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Not for me Michael as I'm all set for both winter & summer seasons, just a little info for others who may be interested for next summer...:) I agree, you guys/gals will just have to do the steelies as others may prefer specific tire brands...

I forgot to add that TireWorld Pricing includes free installation and balancing as it says so in their AD.
Their ADs are the ones in some newspaper publications usually with the information upside down to get your attention "You'll Flip Over Our Prices"

Actually $35/wheel is the quote I got from Wheels Direct. Avante wants $60/wheel.

Hey all,

I've been in the market for new summer and winter tires lately for my 2001 Protege ES 2.0 (GT package)... and here's what I found for summer ones..

Bridgestone Potenza RE910 (205/45R16)  $143 a tire installed.  I checked in Kingston and Quebec City... cheapest I could find.  I bought these as a replacement for the dunlops (gone after 50,000 kms)

As for winter ones... I got a price for steelies (14"/15") from Costco for $36 each.  That'll be the same across the country.  Now for tires... I had Mazda tell me that 14" rims will be ok... but will I have any interference with the Brakes?  Costco seems to have some tires for about $ 85 a tire... but that still goes up to about $550 installed for tires and rims.  Anyone got any other suggestions?  Cost saving is a must...and I don't want to resort to used tires.

Lates...

If you want steelies from Mazda, Scaboro Mazda is selling them for 45 each for 15".

Weirdly enough!,WalMart has a behind the counter Automotive Guide used by its personel confirming that there is a 14" RIM FOR THE 2002 P5.

I will be going there today to photocopy the page and run the codes by you guys and the dealership. Anything to lower the price of good winter rubber will do me just fine.

Hey,
I picked up 14" steel rims plus 4 Kumho KW11 winter tires from Wheels Direct last year. I had no problems with 14" rims.

Confirmed!
Walmart does have the 14" steelies of which I'm gonna order next paycheck. $39.97 each. And if it doesn't fit over my calipers, oh well, it is Walmart and they will gladly take it back.

With regards to some conversations I've been participating in and have overheard, the following applies.

As for all of you who are son's and daughter of OIL SHIEKS screw you. What is this CRAP ABOUT WINTER PERFORMANCE TIRES and WHEELS.

For some of us this purchase is equal to a set of summer rims and tires. Good for you!!!.

THE KEY WORD IS 'WINTER TIRE'. So all of the Shaolin outcast bastards seeking 40, 50 series tires in Yoko's, Toyo's, Pirelli's Z Rated Winter Slicks, good luck with your PERFORMANCE WINTER DRIVING. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif
