Q for people with chopped shifter extension

From what I see in the picture the boot sits on the extension piece on the shifter. Once you cut that off how can you re-attach it so it fits snug against the knob?

#1. You dont cut the shifter extension off.... you simply seperate the extension from the shift stick.

#2. Your stock shifer wont fit.

#3. The top of your boot will rest on the shifter stick as it used to (if you didnt cut it).

If anyone can clarify what i jsut said please do so.

A-Spec did my short shifter. They took the stock lever and cut a 1 1/4 piece outta the shaft. They then re welded everything together so the extension peice is still on. Mind you it's short shifted so they also heated the ball joint and hammered it up the shaft to make for a shorter throw.
