Well I was just checking out the 2003 Protege 5's at my dealer and I have a few things that I noticed about the car.

First the new rims are alright. They do look better than the 2002. Also the silver door trim has now been replaced with the carbon fibre look. That is pretty cool.

The thing I don't like are the new headlights. They essentially are the same but they have added alot of black coverings to them. I prefer the 2002 headlights. Other than that the new Laser Mica Blue color is cool. Better than the other shade of blue they offer.

Does anyone know if any other colors are going to be released? I would love to see a Gunmetal Grey added to the lineup.

P.S. Has anyone seen the custom Yellow P5 Mazda is offering at Morningside Mazda. All Leather interior and yellow interior trim. It was there for only a week and someone already grabbed it. I heard that anyone owning a yellow P5 can have this upgrade for $2500. They should have another one on the lot in about 2 weeks. Go check it out.

Shit dealers charge a lot for all that. You can get all the leather trim to your liking from any aftermarket upholsterer (spelling) for much cheaper.

As for the head light if you like to trade for mine no probs.

hey guys...

erin mills mazda also carries that special leather option on their showroom model... i picked that one up also... the heated seats really helped me seeing that the only reason i bought this car is that i got into an accident with my explorer... the heat really helped my injured back...

erin mills also added on the MOMO shifter, yellow trim, and MOMO rims with the BF Goodrich tires with the yellow bands around the tread... you can check out the pics through the link in my sig below....

as for the new 2003 models... the new black light housing will have to grow on me... not a great first impression when i saw them, they looked kinda cheap to me... i just saw it last friday... the interior trim changed from that champagne metallic trim to a silver metallic trim, and that looks much, much better... and the increase in the carbon fibre trim was a great idea, especially on the door trim... this car's going to go through some more changes, but by the looks of it, Mazda's moving in the right direction...

I don't think Mr. Wayne has said 2003 model. I think he was just commenting on the fact he checked out one at a dealer.

They also have the side signals on the fenders and the ES/P5 models have silver faced gauges. instead of white. The gear shift is different in both 5-spd and auto, which is now the sportshift.

The only colour change is the new blue.

Maybe we should start a thread offering light housing exchanges to owners of 2003 P5's who don't want the smoked look? I drive a black 2002 P5, tinting the windows probably next year and I thought the smoked lights would look pretty good with it

Uh, a unequivocal "Hell NO" to the first point, and "I agree" to the second point. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

dr_sarcasm.

P.S. The new colour (blue-whatever) looks like shite on the P5 (IMHO of course).

Sorry guys but I own a 2002 Yellow P5. I just checked it out at my dealer. Damn Bumblebee I love those rims. I can't believe Erin Mills gave you that option. Damn lucky!

If I had those headlights I would trade you guys in a flash. The headlights I would love to put on my car are the ones they use on alot of the custom ZX3 Focus's. Ford doesn't offer them but alot of custom guys do. If they would build something like that for my P5 that would be awesome.

If anyone is thinking of repainting their car, may I suggest gunmetal grey? This color is so wicked that I would pay to see a P5 in that finish. Gunmetal Grey with white rims. Now that would be what I would do if I had the money. Unfortunately rims and rubber and tinting are a bigger priority.

Also for any of you guys customizing the car may I say painting or replacing the calipers be one of the first changes. I painted my calipers gloss yellow and it just makes the car look that much more sexy... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
