Hi Guys, I would post this in the eletronics section but for some reason I can't open a thread there.
Just realized the other day that nothing's coming out of my rear speakers. Only the 4 speakers on the doors. Any idea what might be causing this or what I can check to try to fix it?
Let me know!

If you have a msp or P5, then there are no rear deck speakers. only 4 speakers in total, in the doors.
if it's an msp
Check the sub fuse, it's located near the battery in a small inline fuse on a 10or 12 guage wire.

It's a stock Kenwood system in my MSP. There's a sub in the msp right? I'll check the sub fuse. How should it "check it" and what should I be checking for?

check if the fuse is broken, there is a wire in there. if it doesnt connect to both side it wont work.
Also check the lights on the amp.
a 10 year old amp (assuming its orginal) would be past its EOL

If you find it's the amp that has gone, which they often do on the MSP's, I have an extra that I'm willing to part with.

Awesome thanks. would my other speakers still be working if it was my amp? I'll check the fuse within a couple of hours.

the door speakers are powered by the deck, so yes.

Always been curious, is there RCA's ran in the car or is it those Hi/low plugs in there?

I thought it was Real Classy Assholes.
I'm an active member of that club and TOProtege has never been mentioned so it's unlikely the acronym was describing such classholes.

So i checked the fuses and nothing was wrong... where would i find the light for the amp? Any other ideas?

So it's only the sub that is not working?
Only thing to do is check all the wires. Check that the amp is grounded. Check the connections to the amp from the inputs and outputs. Take out the subwoofer and check the +/- terminals on the speaker itself.
If the connections are all good, and the fuses are not blown then you likely have a dud amp.

i went through two of those amps on the rear deck before i gave up and went JL...havent had a problem yet. I have the rear deck with sub and amp, if you want to try out the amp from it to see if it makes a difference lemme know. i'm off to the cottage this weekend but i could meet you monday or something. See i was lucky and got mine replaced both times under warrarty, howwever im not 100% if my old one is working. its been sitting in my garage for a couple years now. if that doesnt work i have another amp i'd be willing to part with. Cheap too. it'd atleast get ya working till you can find a better suited replacement.

Went to the eastside meet and the guys helped me figure out that it was the sub that was dead. Looking for the 8" sub that will fit in to that factory enclosure. You have one? Ps. Beer tonight? Let me know!
