Hey guys, drive an '02 yellow P5.

I recently got a Pioneer DEH 2200UB deck fairly cheap (buddy works at C-Tire). I have never done anything to my car before, but I am reading up, learning, and taking things slow. This is the first time I have installed anything into a vehicle, its unfortunate that it had include removing the stock head unit from hell thanks to Mazda. After an hour of swearing I managed to get my stock stereo out and put in the new deck and mounting. I guess I wired it properly because it sounds great, but it doesn't really secure itself into the mounting; it just kind of sits in there. I can pull it straight out of the mounting while driving.

I am considering supergluing the edges of the deck to the mounting since I don't really plan on changing decks anytime soon, and the whole unit can be removed fairly easily... but I decided to post here first before I do anything.

Help is appreciated, also strong 1st post :D

I took some pics but they are pretty hard to see

Dont mind his spelling. His Iphone skills aren't that great but his skills with car wiring and setups are top notch.

Superglue will not hold anything together in your car. What single din kit did you get. the stock one with the little door tray? Did you bend any of the mounting tabs on the metal housing up to secure it into the dash? You will need to slide the head unit out of the metal sleeve and mount the sleeve in the dash. Once that is secure (by bending all the tabs up), you can plug in the harness and slide your head unit in. On another note, if you are using anything other than the stock single din mounting parts fitment will always be an issue.

I've got the scoshe (sp?) single din mount kit. There are no metal tabs on it.. unless you are referring to the metal tabs that are on the pioneer deck itself and not the mounting kit.

The mounting fits securely into the car, its the deck that doesn't fit securely into the mounting thats the problem. It just slides out.

take steel sleeve off pioneer deck

slide sleeve into dash hole.

use screwdriver to push tabs out (as many as you can till its secure)

slide deck into sleeve till it clips in.

Pushed the tabs out and was wondering why the deck was sliding out of the sleeve, then I realized because it was floor model it came without screws. Fixed it right up and now it fits like a glove. Thanks guys
