So while the message board was down I spent alot of time on the protege club's board. so i came across a thread that really interested me and i have decided to take on the task myself, i bought a S2000 starter button and two toggle switches that have the plastic flip cover, so ass i figure it i am going to make one toggle switch acc. power and the other one just the "on" one and the hook the ignition up to the button so after its all done all i have to do is press a button to unlock the door jump in flip a toggle switch and push a button. what do you think?

Your insurance company probably won't like it, but I think it sounds pretty sweet, keep us updated. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Sounds cool although you might want to hide the "on" switch.

My buddy did something similar to that with his old Bronco....He turned it into push button start to save himself money from fixing his ignition. You still had to put the key in and turn it to the "on" position and then you just push the button...it was pretty cool. People would try to steal it as a joke and they would turn the key and it wouldnt start...they were like how the hell do you start this thing...No one really looks for buttons....

That would be pretty sweet. If you left the stock ignition on your steering stalk, like you said, no-one really looks for buttons to start a car. You know those little spots you have on dashboards sometimes, where it looks like there should be a button there, but you didn't get the option? Well, there's a button on my dash(that was supposed to be for the all-wheel drive transfer case button[90-91 models]), which is the exact same size as my rear defroster switch. I'm thinking about getting another one of those defroster switches, and wiring it up as my ignition kill switch.

It's just to the right of the steering column, on the dash.

Can't wait to see the pics. Can you also post brief instructions on how you did it? I thought it will be a bigger job than one hour?!
