I have a few friends who have 'em on their cars (one subaru one pathfinder). love it. no leaking issues.

because its sooo difficult to undo a drain plug and so time consuming. :D
could be helpful if you drain plug is in an awkward position that causes a mess when you drain. but any car i've changed the oil on drains straight out into the drain pan.

some cars require you use this. Personally, I wouldn't.

That's the most common method for changing oil in boats (inboard). I used to work for a Chevron Marine facility and used this method almost daily.
