hi everyone... It's been a week now since my vent started shooting out this weird smell, my gf described it as close to a skunk smell. i just had my water pump and timing belt done a week ago... my mechanic told me that give it two weeks and the smell would be gone... any insights about this... the smell is not as strong as it was before... but why did it happen in the first place?

Try turning on the recirc and see if it still smells out of the vents. could be some kind of solvent or coolant that got spilled on the block? Changing the water pump should not produce a strange smell. If it keeps up, you could have a bad heat exchanger?

belt slipping and burning? no noise cause its covered in anti-freeze?

take a look around and underneath to see what looks wet, make sure nothing is leaking

I tried what you suggested the smell was not there... the weird part now is that sometimes it's there sometimes it's not. more observation if it persist after 2 weeks i gotta talk to my mechanic

my guess would be that the belts are too tight and the smell might be you alternator...Just a guess..
