Hello Gentlemen!

I have just moved to Calgary and I went to purchase a coolant block heater that should mount on a pre-determined location on the engine block itself... IM LOST WHICH FROST PLUG I HAVE TO REMOVE??? I checked the Protege 5 manual... nothing... looked online... nothing... checked this site ... nothing... HEELLLLPPP... any pros out there??? where would I install the Nappa Block heater ???

I already had taken out one frost plug and there is no room in the coolent chamber!!!

ANYONE PLEASE HELP I cannot run the car without this install in this cold

The car should start just fine in the cold without one. I spent half a winter north of Timmins without one, and it started up at -45 just fine.

But yeah, dealer is the way to go for a block heater for this car, none of the napa or other universal ones would fit from what I could tell talking to the mechanics in Timmins, and if there is one thing that Timmins mechanics should know it is block heaters.

That was my next move... thanks for the help.
@ non_event; I'm cofident it'll start at -45, but with 277k's on it i dont want to put avoidable strain on the engine.

The engine will be fine, it's the stater that takes the hit...

^Ya I was going to say that I inquired about one a year or two ago and was told they weren't available anymore

I bought one last fall from a Mazda Dealership here in Winnipeg, I guess I got lucky?

When I bought mine in 2007 the guy at the dealer said it was one of the last ones available in North America, or at least available for them to get in. He could have been lying, but really he had no reason to.
