I am just reiderating my post in the other forum.(something went screwy with my post, and I don't know if anyone saw it)
PLEASE GIVE ME SOME FEED BACK I NEED TO GET BACK TO THIS GUY WITH DETAILS.
Original message was:
OK......So far the best deal I have gotten is from Superior Tire.
I spoke with the owner and he said that the best possible size wheel for our car is 195/55/15
He is willing to sell us a combination of new or used steelies depending on which ones he has at the time.
He guarantees that if they are used, you won't be able to tell.
Anyways so far he has said that he will sell us the steelies for $40.00/ea
Tire options (So far)
Toyo Garet HT $119.00/ea
Dunlop Graspic DSI $100.00/ea
Both have pretty nice tread patterns and are pretty High quality winter tires.
I have him looking to see if he can put together a "Economy/budget Package"
If you want to check out the tread pattern go to
toyocanada.com
dunloptire.com
It seem like he really wants to work with us on this one.
I also mentioned to him possibly giving us a deal next summer on a group by for aftermarket rim and tire packages.

Not a bad deal?
However, I'm still in the process of reading the numerous personal testimonials of each individual winter tire brand weighing, LONGEVITY, reputation, and most of all PRICE.
The manufacturer can always give us the latest techno talk, but since I am a street soldier I like the 'street soapbox testimonials'.
If we are buying as a group, what if some of us want different brands of tires? I think they will still love our volume and installation fee if there is any?
I like what I'm hearing so far and other will be posting research results soon..., I hope. I'll be clearing my credit card.

...,Almost forgot, that a couple of years ago I was pleasantly surprised with Canadian Tires Winter Tire products called the Ice Trac and Winter Trac.
I think I purchased the Ice Trac for my HOnda Accord for about $75/pc and felt good about it, as they followed my instructions about the white walls in if there were any.
The tire was pretty damn good and probably the best bang for my buck!!!
I may just do a group steelie buy and then run get my tires there!!!

Hmmm,
If what you're saying holds true to this day i.e. $75 for winter rubber, I'll be doing the same as you i.e. buy the steelies and run to Canadian Tire to get the rubber.
Cheers,

From this month onward till early November, Canadian Tire usually sells these Winter Tire Specials.
Its a perennial thing with them, as every year around this time till early november the sale goes on. I think it may alse be promoted with don't pay for a certain time or extra bonus points if put on your Options MC .
Just have to watch the flyers I guess.

i have a set of steelies with a 5 bolt pattern in my garage without tires. they were originally from my dad's c230 benz, but he doesn't use them anymore. would these fit? is there anyway of knowing without actually putting the tires on and installing it? i looked on the rims and there aren't any markings of any sort. .... this would save me alot of money if i just buy the winter tires...

bmw is 5-bolt but is 5x120mm instead of 5x114.3mm (and subaru is 5-bolt but 5x100mm)
not sure about benz, but if 5x120 is a popular euro-spec then maybe that's what they are ...

i don't think that the rims are going to kill you in costs......it's more the tires that are going to do the damage......you can get rims pretty much at most place cheap.........i saw prices for wheels in the walmart flyer (14", 15", and 16" steelies).

ok... found some lettering... it said "6 1/2 J 15H2"
they are actually factory MercBenz winter steelies cuz they have a tiny logo on the wheel. hmmm... i doubt they'll fit then....
how do i measure it? like from which part of the bolt pattern do i start to measure?

sorry guys, no wheel covers included in these......
I also got a price from Wheel and Tire Zone on warden for 799, including 195/55/15 with Dunlop graspic. I think this is too much considering that superion tire's deal comes up to 560
sorry guys, no wheel covers included in these......

Amazing how some dealers think were that stupid enough to pay those prices.
No offence to whomever may think that those are good deals but What a rip-off.
A 185/65R14 Kumho KW11 is an $80.00 tire!

So from all the posts, this is what I gather to be the cheapest so far: Dunlop Graspic DSI $100.00/ea and 15" steelies for $40.00/ea = $560 package.
i KNOW we can cheaper. So please go look around. I will go to Mississauga Tire and ask them for a quote on a package as well.

The cheapest option seems to be buying the rims ($40/a rim), and then going to Crappy Tire and buying the $75/per tire deal = $460.
However, I've not checked CT to see if the $75 tires are still available... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif
