In july I took my P5 in to complain about a chattering clutch and repair my set rails.  Of course Mazda (Brampton) found nothing with the clutch but would repair the rail http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif.

A week and a half later I got the call about the part for the rail coming in. I took my P5 back to the deal and this time the heard the chatting clutch  http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif .  While they repaired the rail they discussed my clutch.  They had me return (mid Aug) for some exploritory surgery and discovered that I needed a new clutch and flywheel (at 30,000km) http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif .

I got the call agian that my parts had arrived.  My P5 returned again to have the clutch and flywheel work done.  At 5:00pm I get the CALL.  "Sorry Sir we order the wrong parts." http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif  http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif  http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sly.gif  http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif  http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif .  They were nice enough to put my in a retal for the night.

I call Mazda at 3:00pm the next day. and " Sorry Sir your parts need to be shiped from Vancover or maybe even Japan."http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif  Now I get to drive this shitty retal with some serious smokers stain for at least another week. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/withstupid.gif

Sorry about the venting but I sick of this crap from dealers!! Why can't they ever do anything right the first time.

Good thing they replaced your clutch i got mine replaced at around 18000 took them a couple of days too with no rental. Im just glad they replaced the clutch, many other dealers will try to blame it on the driver, i know your pissed, but stick it out you'll be happyier than flys round shit when the chattering clutch is gone and you have a new smooth changing p5

can you elaborate what you mean by "chattering clutch"?? i'm trying to picture this and can't for the life of me figure out what the noise you heard is.......is it like the sound of your engine going to fall off or something?? or is it just bad clutch control?? (don't mean to sound like a dick)

I think my car is doing the same thing.
When it's cold out usually in the morning, it seems as though the clutch is engaging and disengaging really fast and it rattles the whole car.

Now you have me worried. I'm going to take my car in to get it checked out.

Mine is going in for a week in October for the
exact same problem!

Jean you sound like a dick. LOL

Does it name the noise at idle or when you press it down? Either way it sounds like a problem with the main bearing. I had a 87 Saab 900 that squealled when at idle. I had the bearing changed and everything went to normal. When you guys swap out clutches do they change the whole thing?

For the same problem I described?
Where are you taking?
Do you have a short shifter? I am just curious if they are going to give me a hard time about mine.

Clutch chatter is usually associated with grabiness as well. The car will jerk forward with the smallest of clutch movement.
My (used) '91 Accord was starting to do that after 10 years and 170k. My buddy replaced his clutch on his '90 Accord with around the same mileage - great improvement. Still has the car and it's driving fine with 230k.
So it seems that quite a bit of this occurs prematurely with the 5 speed P5, eh? Glad I got the auto...
Good luck in getting these issues repaired/replaced.
