I was driving down the road and downshifted to 2nd (should of used 3rd longer) and the clutch held to the floor. I had to pull the clutch off the floor with my hand (using force).
What happened/any idea what needs to be fixed/replaced. I'm in Muskoka and can't get it in the air yet.
Car is an 05 A4 1.8T Quattro, 6 speed.
TIA

I don't believe it wore down to nothing as it was in good shape before the down shift.
Possibly the slave cylinder or the push rod could have unseated?
I should also mention the car is not drivable. There is no pressure on the clutch when pressing the pedal down.

You mentioned slave cylinder, so I'm assuming your A4 has a hydraulic clutch system. Check the lines to see if any fluid is leaking. The flex hose on my Protege bursted 2 years ago and I had the same symptoms you're having.
You can still drive the car clutchless, but you'll need to time your shifts perfectly when upshifting, and rev match when downshifting. Also, if you want to go into reverse, you'll have to shut off the engine first.

Perhaps a massive leak in the line, loss of fluid would cause the spring force in the pressure plate to not return the pedal to it's normal position.

I hope it’s nothing too serious. I can’t even work on it in the driveway, not enough time. I dropped it off in Scarborough at a trustable mechanic. I am hoping they will find time to have it checked out early in the week.
