The hyundia that i bought my mother is over heating as of today...
It seems to have just started...
I noticed the temp gauge hit the red so i pulled over and let it cool got it home and just topped it up.. i figured it was just low..
took it out again and same thing...
It seams to only overheat under load, i had it idling for over half hour this moring and its fine.. warms up a stays there...
Whats next to check themostate?

you were low on coolant?
if so you either leaked it or burned it somehow.
was the overflow bottle maxed out?
have you checked the system for air bubbles?
park on a steep hill, let the car cool down, then open the rad cap and see if any bubbles come out.
from my experience with cars overheating easy fixes are, either the thermostat isnt opening when it should, or there is air bubbles in the system.
hard fixes if you are missing coolant and you are sure it didnt leak out or overflow, pop the oil cap and check out the oil. also check out the dipstick or just drain some oil.
if it looks milky at all then you are getting coolant mixed with the oil which would indicate head gasket problems.

Check Coolant Level in Rad and Tank.
Check Belt Tension
Verify there is nothing covering the Radiator
Verify the Fans Function
Replace Thermostat
If all That and it's still doing it then it could be the head gasket.
(When It Is Overheating, Turn the Heater On Full, and it should blow MAD HOT AIR)
That should be the T-Stat.

the car was low on coolent i believe before it over heated...
But yeah when it heated up i maxed out the overflow and then once it cooled it was bone dry...
I kinda checked for air bubbles, but once it cools i will throw it up on the ramps and check...
thanks for the help

tanks and rad are now full...
Belt i tighten a little
fan seems to be working problem free
rad is free of anythiny
thermostat is my next guess... but shouldn't it be a fail safe ( i thought all were )

Yeah I was just reading this now.
My thermostat just went this morning.
Ok just a quick tip for anyone who has put on a aftermarket intake.
Make sure you have a hose on the coolant overflow bottle.
Because when my t-stat went the coolant went flying all over the place and onto my air filter
So just a heads up.

Good idea, but I will say that it is a lot easier to detect if that hose is not completely down to the road. Sometimes you don't notice the temp is through the roof until it's too late.

Yeah, not right to the road but to the splash guard thing.
I had a puddle in there but it was too late :(
Anyway the funny thing is after getting my thermostat/new coolant/new intake filter fixed.
I go get some timmys on the way back, I get a nail in my tire
Anyway just got that fixed Heh
(just wanted to rant that off)
