Caliper rebuild

So I am rebuilding and cleaning my calipers and have a couple of questions. First, does anyone know where I can get a pair of snap ring pliers that will reach down into the bottom of the cylinder to get the parking brake screw out/in. Second with regards to the metal slides that the pads sit on, for the rear calipers, there is one with both legs the same length and one with one of the legs shorter, which one goes where and why?
