Hey guys,
My 2003 P5 speakers stopped working. I have some JVC deck, and I swapped in another one to test it out and still the same result. Is there some sort of central amplifier that I don't know about that may have died? Not exactly sure how all can just die without some single point of failure.

Do all the speakers run to a common ground? If that ground came loose I could see it causing all the speakers to stop working at the same time. I'm not a stereo or wiring guy by any stretch, but it seems like something that would cause them to all stop working.
Feel free to mock me for my lack of knowledge regarding the stereos if I am totally off the wall with that idea.

Theives didn't take the speakers and put everything back nicely did they? That would be really mean.
I assume you tried another JVC or compatible deck with the harness. Check to make sure all the harness connections (wires) are all good. Does the deck work and play a CD and tune the radio, etc..? If so, you know the radio is receiving power.
That's all I got for you.

The speakers are all using the factory wiring, and yes, they are still there ;)
I tried another JVC deck with the same pinouts. The deck functions as it should, but there is no sound coming through. I plugged both decks into my garage stereo setup and everything is functioning properly.
When I turn the stereo on in the car, I hear a quiet pop, which sounds like it's coming through the speakrs.
I know I should check aftermarket harness, but I don't see how all speakers would be affected by it unless they somehow all opened up and are shorting on each other.
Any other ideas?

Speakers don't have a ground; it simply has a positive and a negative from each speaker that ends up where your harness is. So a total of 8 wires.
It definitely has to be something with the harness your using up front.
A cheapo easy way to check if the speakers are all good; take a triple A battery and touch the positive and the negative of the speaker wires from the harness to each end of the triple A battery.. and you'll hear that little popping noise to know that their isn't any leaks in the speaker wire.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to unravel the neatly tucked harness tomorrow.

Aftermarket decks have a protection ciruit built in. If one of the speakers or speaker wires short, or go to ground the deck turns off the amp till it's corrected.
Easiest thing to do is pull the deck and disconnect the speakers from the deck. Then attach each speaker one at a time to find out which one (or more) is the problem. Then track down the wiring - but most likely its an issue at the speaker (shorted speaker coil or connector broken and shorted to ground).
good luck

If one speaker is shorted the deck will shut down all outputs so it doesn't blow the outputs. So like typhoonk said, check your speakers
