How does it compare to your p5?
acceleration? handling? don't know much about mustangs.
CrazyCaker
February 5th, 2010, 05:41 AM
blows the p5 away, even with all the mods. but there's really no comparing the two. the acceleration is ridiculous, it's a torque monster. and the handling with mine is just awesome with the upgraded suspension package. honestly I can drive this harder then the p5 and it just keeps asking for more. first mod on the stang will be upgrading the brake pads tho. they really cheaped out there, the oem pads fade like crazy.
thekid
February 5th, 2010, 09:16 AM
^ If you upgrade the brakelines, make sure you get a proven set, I've heard of some that aren't long enough if you really hamer on the brakes and the back end gets fully unloaded.
CrazyCaker
February 5th, 2010, 10:14 AM
^ Thanks for the info! I'll likely do the lines as well. But pads will hopefully make a big difference. I'd hate to see how the oem pads perform on the track, makes me scared just thinking about it. If I can notice the fading that badly just on the streets, something needs to be done.
CrazyCaker
February 5th, 2010, 10:16 AM
I was fooling around a bit with the TC turned off on the way to work. Had a few good times where the back end tried to get away from me :p But it will take a bit to get use to for sure. I've already used 1/2 tank of gas lol and only had it for a few hours.

CrazyCaker
February 5th, 2010, 10:44 AM
^ Best part is it's already been broken in! :) The GM at the dealership had been driving it.
I also managed to squeeze free oil changes out of them (and it appears to be for life!! SWEET! Written right in the contract.), winter mats, and complete professional detailing (gotta drop it off Monday for that).

Let me know when you are doing your brakes, I gotta do mine too. The rotors are kinda crap too, they warp a little quick on a slow down from serious speed
kevcol74
February 5th, 2010, 12:39 PM
Do they warp when you hammer the gas with the brakes on? Oh, wrong thread.... :P

Nah, they are cool with that, they'll hold the car in place but hot stops do it pretty easily, i think they are just too small

The 2010 GT already has a CAI stock. And an axle back doesn't cut it for me, no offense. I'll be doing full exhaust. Just doing research on that now actually and seeing if a 4" downpipe is what I'm going to need ;).

The "Mammoth" kit from Kennebell is ***king tempting!!! Straight bolt on, and you instanely have 750+ rwhp.

burlingtonprotege
March 2nd, 2010, 03:06 PM
sounds like a pretty easy decision to me pending that the cost of the kit isnt around the value of the car like it is for us proteges.
CrazyCaker
March 2nd, 2010, 03:13 PM
^ Parts are a fraction of the cost compared to what Protege parts go for. You can get a high performance intake mani for under $500... compared to $1000 for a sheet metal intake mani for the Pro. Not to mention the gains with every mod are much more as well.

I'm liking it more and more. I could run 9-12 psi on the kit until that gets boring and then simply build a motor and then run the 25+ psi :p
It would be a lot less headaches then going custom twins.

at 10psi you will be fine, any higher and theres a bunch of stuff you'll be doing before upping the boost and belts will be the least of your worries, Im just not so sure Id like a 8 rib belt with that much tension on and off to prevent the slip. Maybe they will make a10 or 12 rib set up for it
