Gonna try painting my calipers today. I kinda know what I'm doing so I hope this turns out ok...

Gonna repaint my strut bar too if I still have paint left.

And I'm taking my car in for its 48k service tomorrow. I called and it's like 300 some odd dollars! Holy crap!

Don't take them off, use a small brush and folia tec caliper paint. If you have a spray can, spray it into a cup. Less hastle than to take off.

Try covering the disc brakes and rotors and either spray paint it or brush it on. I did mine spray-painted and it turned out pretty good.

Brushed on Tremclad red two weeks ago.

Can't remember who recomended it over that expensive paint from performance shops, but for a few bucks for a small can, wow looks awesome.

Check you service inspection list...

48,000KM list is as follows: X-indicates not pertaining to you.

Air Filter
Spark Plugs
X-Fuel Filter(B-series)
Inspect Fuel Lines
Inspect Exhaust
Inspect Cooling System (pressure test cap)
X-Replace transaxle fluid (Tribute)
X-Replace Transmission Fluid (except Protege)
Inspect Driveshaft dust boots
Inspect supsension
Inspect steering and 4-wheel allignment
X-Replace Diff oil (Miata)
X-Lube axle shaft (B series)
X-Replace brake fluid (Tribute & MPV)
X-Inspect bearings(B series)
X-Replace transfercase fluid (Tribute)

Air filter - do it yourself
Spark Plugs - if not comfortable to do it, or can't get somone to help, find out how much it cost on its own. (Its really really easy. That is what this board is for right?)

Maybe rotate tires
Maybe inspect AC

The rest is all inspecting this and that, and they will hose you for it. If you want to pay for it fine, but its a rip off.

Say Oil, and filter, NO LUBE, do it yourself, + spark plugs + rotate tires.

My Dad did this service last year on his ES, and he did the air filter and plugs himself, paid for oil, filter and tire rotate.

Did you do your 24 000KM?

How much was that.

Oil, Filter, Check Engine Idle Speed, Lube Brake Caliper Slide, Tighten Chassis Bolts...the rest is inspect, inspect...

Down here at Ghetto Concept Performance Trends we painted our calipers 2 months ago. We didn't want to dismantle too much cause it's only the colour we are gonna see through the factory rim anyway. So we saran wrapped what we didn't want to be painted.

I just used the casting lines of the calipers as guides when painted. It makes the calipers look smaller than they are and everything that's not painted just fades into the background. I thought the 48k service also included a coolant flush & fill?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I already gave up for now... I wasn't sure how good they would look if I just masked off the areas I didn't want to paint.

Myk... yeah, I know I'm gonna get hosed on the service. But I just can't be bothered to do it myself. Besides, I'm still somewhat new to tinkering with cars and I don't want to screw anything up. I think the 24k service was a little over 100 bones. But I didn't mind paying some guys who know what they were doing as apposed to me messing around with it myself. Thanks though. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
