Two catalytic converters??

I just got new exhaust today!  I got 2 1/4" from the first cat all the way back.  I removed the second cat and the resonator.  To my point.... why are there two cats on the protege5, and can I get in shit from the cops now even though I still have my cat after my header??   Anybody else do the same thing??        http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

yes...you can get in shit....

most people have removed the "First" cat and left the second cat alone...from a visual inspection....its safer.
