Yup its a 'Laser Mica Blue' P5 for 2003

I can really see now why I paid extra cost for a premium paint and more for an original car when the thing is duplicated into the new P5...im pretty pissed

Looks nice from the front, but f****ing stupid from the back

As limited as the Yellow P5 was only supposed to be on 500 cars! Yeah right.... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Haha...alex I did the same thing last week. I thought it was an MP3 at the light, and as it drove past freaked me out that it was a P5. Looks TITE!

There were only supposed to be 500 yellow MP5s? Not including all the members of this club..who has the other 3?

I agreed with Kurt. Saw one Friday around dinner time @ Kennedy / Hwy 7. Perhaps I'm used to the back of my car, the back looks way too high for the bright blue. I never liked the WRX wagon before, and I think I like the laser blue P5 even less. IMHO, the midnight blue is a much better colour for the P5 shape ...

It would have been better if they brought the dark gray instead. I'm not a fan of the lazer blue on the P5.
(And subaru impreza wagon is definitely fugly)
But boo-hoo all you MP3 cry babies. You get no sympathy from me unless I can drive your cars http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

i saw one of those laser blue p5's the other day at yorkdale....think it was friday the 13th.....oooooooo......anyways, looked pretty good from the distance, but i'd have to agree that it just throws you off seeing it on a P5.......and whoever sold you a yellow saying it was a limited edition did a good job in selling you the car.....hehehehe......

anyone with the new 2003 P5's w/ the blacked-out headlights who don't like 'em, i'm all ears and willing to trade for the crome ones...... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

Ahhhh, a discussion on colour choices. An interesting one...and a very personal choice.
I agree, the laser blue throws you off on the P5 (too trendy) and the dark blue looks way better (hey, MINE is dark blue -  imagine that!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. But then the racy red allures you into believing it's a red rocket (I do love that fire engine red). The yellow was not available last Aug/Sept when I picked up mine, and quite frankly, yellow doesn't suit my persona. They had sold all the early yellow ones with no immediate plans to ship any more soon, as they had trouble with the paint process - had to send them down the paint line twice, according to my Mazda sales manager, which ended up costing Mazda. So I didn't see any yellow ones on the lot until snow was on the ground last year. Now they are everywhere, and like the red, the car appears to suggest it's a real performer.
Which brings me around to a point. The silver ones were the first ones I saw on the road in the Golden Triangle. They began popping up everywhere. Silver was the first one which grabbed me and the first colour I test drove. Although the silver is classic, I just didn't want the most popular colour. Next I took out a red as I thought red was for me. And black, well as they say, "black cars look better in the shade." Or as I say, black is ok as long as it's someone else's. I've never been a fan of black. The white was not available at the time, and having two previous white cars, was bored of white.
So then I saw the mica blue on the lot but had not seen one on the road as of last August. At first I found it too close to the black. Then I REALLY took my time walking around the car and admiring it. Then I drove it. Then I decided - yep - blue is CLASSY. Doesn't look too racy or draw attention to itself like yellow and red. And I didn't want the attention. What I liked, is the appearance of a much more expensive, small luxury car. That's what struck me. Also as a bonus, the fabric design on the seats...is BLUE! So it was the right choice for me.
However, there are some other vehicle colours I think would be interesting to see on the P5. That purple PT Cruiser colour, a dark green - either a forest or chrome green (like on some Miatas from yesteryear). Nothing trendy like a seafoam green. A dark gold colour and the new Mazdaspeed orange, 'specially for the young ones on the board. A candy apple red/raspberry would be sharp - one of my favourite choices on any vehicle. (I bought a candy apple red motorcycle with gold wheels in '84 and it got attention from the ladies!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
I'm a firm believer that it's good judgement to stay away from trendy colours. I'm sure we all see 10 yr old daily drivers out there in that horrid bright teal (blue/green) colour. Occasionally, I'll see the old Probe in that salmon/coral colour (barf!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif or that Escort in "hologram fuschia" - the colour that seems to vary depending on the light. I mean, what where the companies thinking???
Maybe we should post a poll on present colours, although I'm confident silver would top the list, and another poll on what colours we'd all like to see added to the P5 lineup.
Let me say though, no matter what colour the P5 is, it is a sharp car! One of the few cars on the road, especially in the $20k price range, that turns my head. That is, next to the Lexus RX300 ($50k+) SC430 ($80k+)

I aggree about the laser blue. It looks good from the front but not as good from the rear. Plus, it looks better as an MP3 because the 3 doesnt have the orange bumper lights. This opinion is the same between all the sales/parts guys at my Mazda dealership. I've always thought that an orange P5 would look pretty rad, but, nothing looks better on a car than white! (Dodge copper might be a cool colour too.) The only problem though with the orange, is that it is trendy. Remember 2-3 years ago when you hardly ever saw a yellow car (except for maybe the odd 'stang.), and now you see it everywhere (P5s, J-bodys, Xscapes, Neons, Focuses (FOCII???)). Apparently, j-body's will be available factory orange next summer and Chrysler has announced that the Razor and Neon will both be available in orange. In fact, there was only one guy in town before with an orange car last year and now 3 other people have gotten there Honduhs painted orange. Thats quite a few considering the population and size of Woodstock....
Red, green, black, white, silver and blue are normal colours and will never be trendy or go out of style. They are timeless!!!

interesting comments here on the colours.

well, as an owner of a yellow p5 here is my opinion. to tell the truth the first time i saw a p5 was at the toronto auto show. the vehicle was on the rotating stage thing and it was yellow. right then and there i fell in love with car and never looked back.

some of the other colours look very nice as well. my second choice was the blue. the red is very sharp as well but just not my colour. not a fan of the black (too hard to upkeep the paint) and everyone and there dog has a silver car these days. the white i like very much but was not available yet.

but like i said i loved the yellow. it fits my personality like a glove. i goes quite nicely with my participation in so called extreme sports and nothing looks better than my baby with a set of skis on the rack and parked at the bottom of whistler mountain. as for it being trendy, well maybe so. i didn't buy it because it was trendy i bought it because i liked it. in all honesty as much as i love the car i hope to upgrade to something a little nicer in the next couple of years so as long as the colour stayes trendy till 2004 or so i'm gold.

Just for the record their were only
500 yellow MP3's made not MP5's!!

Just for the record there were only 250 yellow MP3's made - none came to Canada - The numbers might off by a few cars but its around 1,250 laser blue, 250 blue

And the yellow MP5 does have limited edition or something like that written on the door jam sticker - Saw it on Amy's....so its quite confusing

i agree with an earlier comment that silver is pretty much everywhere you turn, doesn't matter what make or model of car, it's just a sea of silver now.......IMHO, i would have liked to sea an off-white or cream coloured P5 (like the Prelude colour) cause for some reason, the P5 white is just tooo white and yellow is definitely trendy which is why i stayed away from that, red, well, red just attracts the cops too much for my liking (anyone with insurance notice a difference in price from colours??) i liked both the black and blue, but felt like black the day i went to buy mine........just my $0.02

Blue rocks my world.
I picked the car, my girl picked the colour. I didn't really mind what she picked. Glad I got blue though cause it sets off nice against silver/chrome. At night it looks black and in the day it seems to be the only colour P5 that has more depth and colur changing abilities (blue to purple and black)- the paint isn't as flat and bold. IMO the lighter coloured P5s just look bigger assed. The darker colours seem sleek in comparison.

Me and Chops saw the Laser blue P5 togther before the BK meet. At first we thought it was cool (from front) but as we looked more at it it looked like a dumpster from the back. Mike actually test drove it cause the driver of the car was from Ontario Mazda. We chatted him up and then dissed his colour! WESTSIDE!!

Well, here's KeeWee's contribution to the whole crayola-colour discussion...

Being my first car EVER, I wanted something I wouldn't get sick of easily. I was so sure I wasn't going to get a silver. But compared to the other ones (blue being my second choice) I think silver was something I could live with easily. I'm just glad the interior of the p5s are the same, or else it would take me even longer to decide!

My bf's insurance company wants to settle now (for those who don't know, his car was stolen a few weeks ago and right now, we really don't want it back), and he's been tossing the subaru, p5, and corolla around in his head. I think he's leaning more towards the dark blue p5..who knows? Maybe we'll get matching plates 'His p5' and 'Her p5'..eeew! cutesy...blech! I'll let you know if we get a another member sometime soon... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif
