40,000 km Service

Every 5,000 km's I get a synthetic oil change anyway, and jst got one the other day.

Is there a point to the 40,000 km service since the next dealer suggested one is at 48,000km?

I thought the P5's had to have the oil/filter changes every 5000 Miles or 8000 km?

I do every 5ooo km, as with all my cars.

40K service is just an oil change and the inspect here inspect there.

I change my oil with regular dino oil every 4000km.

I can't just leave the car for 8000km without changing the oil. Maybe if I used synthetic, but even then 8000km seems a little too much.

Just think of it this way the oil can never be too fresh.

Next time I go to the dealer will be at 48K.(major service)

I just got back from the dealer. I said I didn't need an oil change 'cause I got one last week and the guy said there is no point to servicing the car then.

But when I booked the appointment last week, I was told to bring it in anyway for the other checks.

I told the guy this and he said "When you get gas, check your fluid levels and yer tires. If your doors creek put lube on them. If yer bulbs are burnt out, replace them. See you at 48,000 km."

He also said he couldn't deduct the oil change price because the inspectio would then be something like $15.00 and its a waste of their time as well as mine.

Why can't people be this honest and frank over the phone.

Its early morning and the day is starting, but it took time from me and I hate that.

So I learned that the major checks are the ones to go in for and to continue my own oil changes in between just like i am now.

I know thats what gets said here on the board, but with a new car I like a definitive answer from the dealer.

If anyone is interested, I acquired the prices for the recomened checks from Erin Mills Mazda. I know they are one of the better dealers to work with.
