From the Workshop manual, and Owner's manual, I have compiled a list of the different fluids that need to go in our cars. Included are required grades, and capacities of each system.

--

Transmission (G15M-R)
Grade: API service GL-4 or GL-5
Viscosity: 75W-90
Volume: 2.68 L
(Motul Gear 300 75W-90)

Brakes/clutch
Type: SAE J1703 or FMVSS 116 DOT 3
Volume ~ 750 ml (1L = 2 bottles)
(Motul DOT 5.1)

Engine oil
Grade: API service SG, SH, SJ, SL
ILSAC GF-I, GF-II, GF-III
Viscosity: 5W-30 or 10W-30
Volume: 3.5 L (3.3 L if not replacing filter)
(Mobil-1 5W30/10W30)

Power steering
Type: ATF M-III or equiv. (e.g. Dexron III)
(Motul Dexron III)

Fuel
Octane: 89 (Canada)/92 (USA)
Volume: 55 L

Are these capacities good for the 1.6 as well? I think you told me before that they all have the same transmission.

That reminds me of what these VW guys used to do. They took the transmissions from 1st gen cars and put them into their 2nd gens because the 1st gens had closer ratios.

I think the 1.6 has closer ratios than the 2 so it might be an advantage to swap a 1.6 tranny into a 2.0.

where did this info come from?
Canada 89
USA 92

From what I know all north american mazda 2.0L engines call for 87 octane. Except for the MP3.
