my alpine deck (cda 9811 i think) turns on and then turns off again. sometimes it will stay on for an hour, other times it'll be off most of the time, and blip on from time to time.
is there a fuse for the stereo specifically? does anyone know if there's a fuse at the back of these alpine decks?
i realize i should just pull the deck out and have a look but a) i'm lazy and b) i'm lazy and c) if it was a loose connection i would think it wouldn't stay on for so long, even when going over potholes and such (on the times that it does stay on)

Im having the same problem. Whats your setup? Im running a 500w 4 channel amp powering components and co-axial's , and a 1000w mono block powering two 10's. Ive also got a cap hooked into the system. My deck stays on and the track continues to play, however, the speakers, subs, and cap all turn off. At first I though It was a lose connection as it would turn off and on, but the timing is random and has nothing to do with potholes... then i thought it was the cap... now im leaning more towards the battery...

i'm running a 1F cap and a crappy sony xplod amp (prolly around 250-300wrms) powering 1 cerwin vega 12'' sub. my deck completely shuts off. I don't think my issue has anything to do with the amp or cap. something's up with the power lead to the deck (or a fuse as I was asking about)

It could be a ribbon cable problem. From what I can tell this is an older deck that still has the power fold down face. The ribbon cable is a common problem on the power face decks.

you checked the power and ground wires to make sure they aren't buggered?

I would suggest a bad ground, I've seen this happen before and when the ground wire was removed from the deck clip and grounded to the chassis it worked.
Could be as simple as wires crossing as well, some installers are sloppy and don't heat-shrink all cables.

It could also be a short on one of your speakers, have you changed your speakers recently?

nope. speakers have been the same for years (some not so great rockford fosgates in the front, stockers in the rear doors). deck is driving the speakers.

^ you know that would be awesome. The last time I took my deck out to plug in some RCA inputs i swear it took me an hour just to get the damn thing to slide out.. haha :)

I have the same issue with my deck. I can't remember what it is, off hand, ha ha. I don't really like it. I have a removable face plate and I noticed it's kind of loose. I can jiggle it just right and make it stop responding or reboot. So when I hit bumps, it restarts or stops responding all of a sudden. I need to replace it, but it was a low priority thing this year.
