hi i have a 2000 protege and i need to pull off the driver side front door to get at a nasty dent. has anyone done this before and if so could you do a little walkthrough on doing this for me.

its really easy.


1. disconnect wiring harness on the piller side.
-pull back the rubber boot and pull the green tab up so it unlocks

2. pop out the pin holding the door catch strap.
-just carefully tap it up with a hammer. also just incase hold the top with needle nose pliers so u can pull up and catch the pin at the same time.

3. undo 4 14mm bolts on the door side of the hinge.
-take note which ones come out from where. two have collars on them and should go back in fist once you go to put the door back in. there wont be any adjustment so u dont have to worry about the door alignment.



its goo if u have someone there to hold the door up while u do this or youll be fixing more that just the door.

wow thanks! that was a quick response :) I will try this out when i have a few days off so i can pound that terrible dent out :(

Is this the same for the P5? I thought you have to remove the fender to get to all the bolts?

no u can do it either way. this way u dont have to take a fender off awell..

cool beans guys.. i took off my door and repaired my dent... the door removal was a sinch! thanks!
