Hey people,
I ordered my intake today! $90 bucks tax in, $20 down.
The guy said it should be in Thursday, so I'll call that morning!
I'll let you know how well the deal goes through and if it's all good I'll give you the word on the store and how they do business.
Can't wait to modify the bracket..!!
peace out

Hey Mark,
why are things on b/o? no materials?
One week isn't too bad though. Also, considering the crappy weather we've been having, I probably wouldn't be able to install it for a few days after, until it warms up again...
Do you have the contact info for the ractive guy? Is he the the one from Toucan?

hmmm...I dun know about that? I am sure you could, but I can't see too many distributors going out of their way for that price if you were only picking one up here and there...sub $100 I think you would need a one time group buy for that!!!
GOOD LUCK GUYS!
(but if I were you, dish out the extra $20-30 and get it from Raymond now!!! BELIEVE ME you won't regret it!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Hey Tax, I got fed up with waiting...
you said the guy from Toucan told you that they would be shipped out or the store would receive the units on May 22nd, when I talked to you at the meet.
Who knows if that will even happen or not.. what if that day comes around and they say, oh sorry, it's going to be another week. That will be at least a month and a half wait.
I went to Avante, payed for it, and by this weekend I will have it installed and ready for action. No more waiting...
I probably would have pissed away that extra money on something else anyways.
It's water under the bridge now anyways.

Yo Richard. Since you are a WESTSIDER I have no beef helping you install your intake. I have quite a bit of experience with your Ractive Intake (WESTSIDERS: Chops and p5crazy).

Hey Dave,
I did the install this afternoon, it wasn't too hard at all...
The only thing that I notice now is, when I start to excelerate from a stop sign, light or a slow down in traffic, and the car gets going, there is a hollow rattling sound, as I'm excelerating... I think I might have to play around with the bracket again. I'm not sure what it is.
Did you hear any vibrating/rattling noises?
Dr. Sarcasm even checked it out tonight and he couldn't see anything rubbing or hitting something. We couldn't figure it out. It doesn't seem to affect the performance, but it's a weird sound. I'll check it out tomorrow.
Thanks for the offer Dave! Oh yeah and WEST SIDE RULES!!!
peace

Careful !!!! ur intake pipe is touching the break-line.... make sure u bend that bracket so that it doesnt touch anything.... also make sure all the screws r tight... and if u havent then go to Home Depot and get urself the brackets that r missing...
this noise is from when u accelerate the engine moves... and the intake moves with it... and along the way it must be hitting something... also if u dont becareful the bracket will snap on u...

And then you're in trouble.
Make sure everything is tight.

GOOD ADVICE TOM!
Rich, you more\likely have the EXACT same intake as mine (i.e. the long-assed one), and mine was hitting too when I first started it up, it was hitting the bottom of the brakes master cylinder so cheque the pipe for marks to see if that is it, other then that as Tom mentioned check the bracket it may be loose, or as with mine the second pipe is touching the rad hose\fan area...so it may be rattling something around that area...other then that, their is another bracket that we had to bend down (can't remember what is attached to it?), but anywho it is right where the filter points down.
I am going to take mine off again this weekend and make a custom bracket, shorten the one tube about an inch to bring the filter away from the rad hose, and maybe make a custom heat sheild...If I do get this done on the weekend I will send you some pics (cause I have no idea how to post them on here) and I will stop by so you can check it out one night!
BTW TOM...when are we going to see your ride again???
ENVD P5
May 17th, 2002, 07:48 AM
My shitty ride doesnt deserve to be seen by the eyes of ppl with extreme mods as you gusy have.... you can see it everyday on the street these days..... i mean i dont know how i know and am able to give advice on things i have never done and will never do myself to my car..... but to keep the story short next meet im there 100% http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I wish I had a digital camera so I could take pics to show you guys...
There is a little play in the whole unit. You can shake it a lil bit which I don't think is right....I'm going to have to adjust the bracket this morning. That seems to be the only thing that is wrong... there is clearance everywhere else.. However, it might be touching the coolent container(right by the filter). That might be the problem too, so I might have to bend the filter downwards more .
I'll keep you guys posted.. thanks

I got the longer tubes with my ractive too.... anyone try to shorten one of the tubes so that it doesn't touch the radiator hose? All I have is a hacksaw, would that be good enough to use (if it's done carefully)?

I dont know too much about the pipe lengths.... but i think they r all the same... the diff is in how far u can jam the pipe into the intake and the connectors.... put some wd40 on the pipe and it goes in much easier...
ChopstickHero
May 20th, 2002, 08:42 PM
the piping ISN'T the same.
sondra got hers last year and her piping is definitely longer than the ones ractive is shippign out now.
before, they could never be pointed downward, now they can.
