Yes you need to put new sealant in those 4 spots indicated in the diagram, but just those spots. You can use Permatex Copper for the job. Make sure you clean off the old crap in those spots first before applying the new sealant.

Valve cover torque specs are:

60.8-95.4 in.lbf

No problem. I don't even remember creating this how-to thread, might have been merged from another thread.

I will be doing my timing belt soon.
I appreciate the info :)

Kinda off-topic but should I use some kind of silicon or sealant on the water pump gasket?

RTV copper is the wrong shit to use

you need to use ULTRA GRAY

^ I think thats what my mechanic ended up using... he also said the copper stuff was the wrong stuff different colour than what was already under my cover.

Hey dead cactus...I could really use this info, unfortunatly I can't view it? and don't see a link anywhere. Any chance you can re-post or perhaps copy and paste what you wrote into an email?...Or even anyone else that's able to view what dead cactus posted.

Thanks

The gasket is fairly straight FWD

Be careful that none of the bolt standoffs don't fall into the motor.
