June 9th, 2009, 09:49 AM
Registration is NOW OPEN!
Please visit http://www.meetingofmazdas.com/ and sign up today! :)
The Toronto Protegé Club will be hosting the 7th Annual Meeting of Mazdas and we would like for all of our members to attend.
The inaugural event was hosted 7 years ago by the Miataphiles and has been hosted by several local Mazda enthusiast clubs in subsequent years. This year, it’s our turn and we have special surprises in store.
Without further ado, here is the 2009 MOM Announcement:
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/333/flyer1small.jpg
The MOM 2009 website (www.mom2009.com (http://www.mom2009.com)), will be up and fully functional over the next couple of weeks. Details will be added as they become available, both to the official MOM 2009 website and to this thread. The website will eventually be available for everyone to register to indicate their intention to attend MOM 2009. For now we just wanted to get the word out about the date and location so that everyone can mark it in their calendars.
If anyone has any questions please post them in this thread, but please be patient with details about the days events as they will be posted in 2-3 weeks.
We will post up here with event updates and when the site is fully functional.
You can count on lots of activities for this Family event, including a Show n' Shine Competition with several categories (to be announced), Games, Prizes and Giveaways!

Now we have to start organizing cruising meets. The way I see it (from my own side of things), there will be 3 groups from the East; CPQ people, possibly meeting up with OMC people, all possibly meeting up with East-side people (I'll be coming in with that group as I'll be in Peterborough that weekend).

Is the UTM in WGS84? And why, for Canada, are you using WGS84, and not NAD83 (or even NAD27)?
Brian MP5T
August 2nd, 2009, 06:05 PM
NAD 27 is not internationally used anymore because it was updated.
NAD27 is OLD DATUM and off by 200 Meters from actual.
You would never use NAD27, unless you had a map that was older than 1983.
non_event
August 2nd, 2009, 09:39 PM
In the mining/mineral exploration world NAD27 is still widely used across Canada.
Brian MP5T
August 2nd, 2009, 10:08 PM
It is used underground because GPS will not get a signal and all the survey work was done manually a long time ago. It is still accurate when compared to itself, however WGS84 is the first earth centerd model used as a datum. It was generated with the use of GPS and the current Datum is accuare to the nearest mm even if the standard GPS system is not.
Aside from that positive, it is as obsolete as leaded fuel and not accepted as a datum of choice.

haha it looks like I won't be going... can't be bothered to drive 9 hours this week.. going to take the bus tour.
I think i'm fairly sure i'm coming to MOM.
good luck getting there in 9hours. I went in 08 and got there in 7.5 (no speeding but now stopping)
there is soo much construction on the way there and Back, it took us 10hrs there and 11hours back.

-RJ3-
August 17th, 2009, 08:52 PM
The big patch before the exit, you have to almost hit the bushes to your right to avoid it, then stay straight then turn all the way to the left... ... after that theres a huge pothole you pretty much have to stay outside of it by tight roping on it.

August 17th, 2009, 08:52 PM
most of us just "stepped" to the side and went over on one wheel which keeps your body mostly above it. For you, I'd just suggest going over them at a 45* angle...and maybe raising the car just a bit...
