I picked up some APC 7-colour side markers from the Tire (on sale for $31.99), and just wondered if anyone had some tips for installing?
I want to mount the colour switch inside the cabin, within arm's reach. It will probably be in the storage pocket to the left of the steering wheel. So I'm going to have to splice some extra wire for the lights to reach that far.
Also, what's the word in the HTA on colours for side markers? If I remember right they have to be either white or amber?

Actually I just checked and they didn't come with instructions? WTF? I would like to wire them up so they flash with my turn signals, so I'm assuming I'll have to tap into those wires?
Also, when I drill the holes in the fenders, should I paint the exposed metal to prevent rusting? The markers come with a rubber weather seal but I'd rather be safe than sorry...

I asked Mazda about installing factory ones for me.
What a hassel, they said it would more than likely void any warranty to do with electrics and paint/corrosion if there was a problem in the future.
Your side markers can only be amber if they are flashing.
They can be almost any other colour if they stay solid except for red.

almost every dealership tells you that. its more like you cant touch or play around with your car in 3 years (where your warranty expires).
If you really wanna do this yourself, make sure you have an electrical backround or at least youve done an electrical job before.
Heres what i would do in your case.
1. if you want ure side markers to blink with the signal lights, find the signal wires with a test light.
the colors are white and white/black from what i believe.
test it to make sure. you'll find these wires on harness close to the driver side of the car.
2. if you want ure side markers to just go with the parking lights, find the parking light wires. Just follow the wires running through your side markers on the bumper. Im not sure of the color. The best way to find this wires is to test it.
I hope this make sense
