I know this isnt about protege's but my buddy just installed an HID kit into his 2007 dodge dakota for his headlights as well as his fogs. the problem is that when he turns the headlights on the radio signal gets very bad and even worse when the fogs are turned on. any ideas as why this is? my thought was beacause its using more power from the battery to run the lights. any help would be much appreciated.

cant be sure of the problem. Baclk in the day when we had CB's in ours cars we use to have to put a noise reducer in the power feed on the stereo, usually found at any canadian tire or radio shack
I know, I know, CB? I feel old now

Bad ground in the stereo. Ground the - wire to bare part of the chasis instead of the stock stereo ground wire.

Shared power/ground. Seperate them and the problem will be gone.
