I people that do have nos, probley won't want to
talk about it.....since it's not exactly legal.

I can tell you some people to have it, and they
seem to love it.  Personally i think the car looks
wicked with a bottel in the trunk!

Be warned, its no legal and you could get into trouble
if you get caught.  As well it's cost about 5$-8$ per pound to
fill up a bottle.  and the cans seem to get used up
pretty quick........so prepare yourself to spend about
40-60$ everytime you want to fill your bottle

And don't even think about your Warrenty, if you have
Nos you don't have Warrenty.

hope this help a bit.

Umm,, are you talking about NOS the company? As in Nitrous Oxide Systems? Or are you just talking about Nitrous Oxide in general?

NOS is very illegal, but you can carry the bottle in your car as long as it's not connected and the valve is closed shut.....fines can be pretty huge too....from what i remember reading somewhere.......

I"m talking about Nitrous Oxide in general.

If your asking about the company...i couldn't
tell you anything.

personally, i think NOS is damn stupid.

I mean, if you wanna kill your engine, just remove the oil pan

atleast that way your car wont blow up http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

N20 is perfectly legal, what is illegal is not informing your insurance company that you have it. They will not cover you in most cases. Police will also contact your insurance company and report the N20 so that they can discuss the insurance issues. If you do find a company that will insure you expect to pay more than double what you pay now.

that's fine... mock away navy...

but in every day driving... what do you really need it for???

i guess you didnt hear that story about those 2 guys who died on the 400 cuz their nos blew up a few months ago....

i mean if you want that much of a performance gain, get a turbo or a supercharger

Navy Davy, can I PLEASE field this one?

Hey, Kodiak, you sound like you might be from Vancouver, are you?

There's a guy out there who says you shouldn't put a CAI intake on your car, 'cause he PERSONALLY KNOWS TWO WHOLE guys whose engines blew after installing CAI!!!!!!

You two should hook up and start preaching against any mods but vinyl... until of course your cousin's sister-in-laws nephew's best friend's car spontaneously combusts due to OVER DECALIZATION!!!!

(Watch out TAX, you might be NEXT!!!!!!http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Well said Freak.

KodiaK can shut up now. I barely had to say a word....

I know that if I got NOS I would use it for everyday driving....I mean what else would I use it for? LOL

The guys that blew themselves up were probably the same idiots who race there SUVs (which have excellent handling at high speed I heard) and keep giving the media fuel for their "Street Racing" stories.

Give me a break....get a turbo or supercharger? Lets see Turbo-$3000 and up, Supercharger-$3000 and up, NOS-$1000-$1500....gee I wonder what someone on a budget is going to choose?

Tornado and electric supercharger!!!!!!

Protege5 Kid

Or if you're on a super tight budget you could
spend 40$ and fill your car up with 94 octane

But becarful i think two guys who own p5's in a remote part of town
put 94 octane in and their cars turned into domestics...................ahhhhhhhhh

Ya gotta love when someone posts this sort of http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/bs.gif without backing it up.

A little lesson in life - if you want to be taken seriously, when making claims please post PROOF in order to avoid being dismissed as one who makes silly generalizations.

P.S. This one time, at band camp... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

funny how i post an opinion about something and people jump down my throat for pretty much no reason...

but hey, if yer on a budget your on a budget... and i still honestly think nos is a waste of time without doing other major work to the engine beforehand

if your going to mod the engine, atleast go balls out

hell just from reading around the info on these forums, ive basically come to the conclusion that just adding an intake and a new muffler is practically a waste of time in terms of performance... and just makes the car sound like a bumble bee..

oh oh!! another opinion... i should keep those things to myself... god forbid some people would take it personally

you going to tell me to shut the up this time navy?? http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wow.gif

shit i bet some people here think these giant F1 style wings on the back of their front wheel drive cars acctually does something to their cars which are limited to a speed of 180km

er shit, there goes another one!!!

/me ducks for flames

I agree with the wing thing. Only person to take that personally would be Tax! LOL.

Okay, you over-sensitive ninny...

I don't think your opinion that you &quot;think NOS is stupid&quot;. was neccesarily what got every one riled... at least in my case, it was your assertion (which is NOT an opinion) that NOS will &quot;blow your engine&quot;.

That is not an opinion, it is an attempted statement of fact, with nothing to back it up.

Oooh, two guys blew their engines with nos on the 400.

As I've stated before, I blew a completely stock engine out of a Ford Ranger driving on the 403. It was due to a weak weld.

Yippee.

So, nobody should ever drive a Ford Ranger on the 403.
It'll blow their engine.

Get my point, yet?

KodiaK
August 28th, 2002, 12:35 PM
i get yer point....

i fully understand that it wont blow ALL engines, but there is still that chance as slim as it could be

if you got the money to spend for it... by all means do it if it makes you happy

here is a little good quickie article about the stuff...

http://www.idavette.net/hib/nitrous.htm

freak005
August 28th, 2002, 01:25 PM
That's a little better.... here's one other point I failed to make in my previous post...

When you post on a public board that &quot;'X' is stupid&quot;
(not extacy, but X as in a variable, meaning anything)
wherein you know that there is a probability that some readers of the board have pataken in whatever 'X' might entail (in this case &quot;I think NOS is stupid&quot; to a board where there are likely those who have installed NOS)
You are, intentionally or not, indirectly telling those people &quot;I think you are stupid for 'X'.&quot; (or, to spell it out &quot;I think you are stupid for wasting your money on NOS.&quot;)

If you don't think this is going to rile those people, that's just as dumb as thinking you won't get stung for knocking a beehive out of a tree because you don't think the beehive should be there. Being of the opinion that the beehive shouldn't be there may be valid, but the bees don't care about your opinion when you smash their home out of the tree.

Just trying to help you see the light.

Oh, and by the way, you also previously stated
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">i mean if you want that much of a performance gain, get a turbo or a supercharger
<span id='postcolor'>

but, if you read the article you posted link to, it also states:
</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">that any number of things that put an engine into severe detonation, such as too much boost from a supercharger, low octane fuel, excessive compression ratio or overly lean air-fuel ratio will also cause the same kinds of damage.
<span id='postcolor'>

And FINALLY, if you actually read that article, it ends with the following statement:

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">So, nitrous oxide is not the instant-engine-failure many people think it is.
<span id='postcolor'>

So, that kinda kills your main argument altogether, doesn't it?

http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif nothin' but love http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/inlove.gif

Lol, nice little analogy there Freak...

First you say its stupid and tell us to get a turbo or supercharger...we tell you they are more expensive for pretty much the same output, and now your telling us </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">if you got the money to spend for it... by all means do it if it makes you happy
<span id='postcolor'>

You contradict yourself...not sure if you were using that article to backup your statments or not, but from what I gather from the article....

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Today nitrous oxide injection, like many other modifications such as more aggressive camshafts, bigger carburetors, higher compression ratios, more free flowing intake and exhaust systems, can be a pracitical way to more horsepower.
<span id='postcolor'>

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Nitrous oxide is also a great value on a dollar-per-unit-power increase when installed and operated properly.
<span id='postcolor'>

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">So, nitrous oxide is not the instant-engine-failure many people think it is. When used properly and when dispensed by a properly designed and installed system nitrous oxide can be responsible for some phenominal increases in power.
<span id='postcolor'>

Just stating my point...Sure it can be dangerous and deadly.....if installed or used incorrectly...
