Hey peeps!

Ok, so I was at Markville Mall today, was only there for an hour, 1.5 at the absolute most! As my bf and I walked into the parking lot, we were surprised to see NO CAR in the spot we parked in. The only evidence left behind were the little stains in the spot from the rust proofing we had done the day before. (who in their right mind would steal a 2000 base model corolla???)

Anyway, needless to say I want to sleep in my car now. Can anyone recommend some good security systems out there? I don't want to go all out, something affordable that would at least do the trick for now. I tried doing a search on this topic and the results had nothing to do with what i was looking for.

Thanks y'all!!!

KeeWeemeister.

2000 corolla?? must be a bunch of joy riding kids....that's unbelievable!! i know someone who stole one of my friend's ghetto chrysler neon, and twice to boot.....who the hell steals cheap-arse cars like those....

anyways, i have a compustar system (www.compustar.org) and it seems to be a pretty good system. It has dual shock sensors and pages you when someone or something has broken in or hit your car. i like that feature although i'm still trying to figure out what i would do if i get that beep to tell me that some broke into my car. it has pretty good range too...when i'm shopping i can still get the range to know whether my car is okay or not.

May I recommend a Viper!
Had it on my 89 Accord because I used to park alot in the Jamaica part of Malton. Old Accords were a prized item for the old school gold tooth brothers.
It is affordable and has the rolling code technology and just ENOUGH bells and whistles for theft DETERRANCE.

I am looking into a system in around the $200.00 -$230.00 range installed cash.
If anyone else has a durable brand I want to know other ones beside the one I mentioned.

As for a corolla being stolen, why not?
Good history and good engine, the parts broken down and sold is a profitable game.

compustar? I order that online?

I saw the Viper brand at Future shop, cheapest one was $200...Cardemon, you found it good enough?

One more question - I'm trying to find a site or somewhere that has reviewed car alarms..anyone know of one? I'll keep searching, but have yet to find good results.

compustar is a brand, you can order at most places....don't think you order it online.....most places that do alarms will know what you're talking about when you mention that you want the compustar system......i think that YP5 is looking at getting one......the new version is spreadspectrum which works even further than the FM version that I have....something like 1 km radius range......depends on how much you want to spend though cause it's kinda pricey (i.e. 500+ installed)

don't know of any places that review car alarms. but some of the protege forums have some reviews. clifford was an excellent system and now viper has acquired them, so i'm guessing that viper is now going to be quite good.....

isn't there an auto sound and security magazine.
Also could someone plese list some good magazines to get a subscription to that feature stuff for imports.
I know there is import tuner and sport compact car as well as our friends Wheels Mag but there should be more good ones out there.

My bf is still in mourning..and now I have to drive him everywhere... http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
Anyway, after talking with a couple of people, compustar seems to be the way to go. If I smile, wink, bat my eyelashes, and play with my hair the right way, I think I can get the compustar for around $400-$500 incl. install. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Yeah, yeah,yeah!
My Viper back then was good enough for me!
Engine Disabler, bit writer and dual shock sensor.
NO pager though!

I know there is way better out there but I had my AL-QUEIDA Bank Account shut down, so the $200-280 range was what I was looking at back then and still now. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Exactly, Cheap arse cars....easier to steal. I think I remember reading somewhere that the corolla is one of the top 5 stolen vehicles.

Concerning alarms, I have a Clifford myself. Works well for me, except I need a siren....its wired to my horn right now. http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

There's an auto shop on Kennedy and 7..I was there today, and they quoted a compustar model for $550 incl. install. Ummm...been tossing ideas around in my head..thinking I might stick to something simpler and cheaper...just because I have a stocky car and am at school most of the time anyway...just want something for piece of mind. I invest in a $20,000+ car, might as well spend a few hundred bucks to keep it as safe as possible...
