Hi everybody!

With a new and exciting year ahead of us, I'm pleased to announce the 2009 Membership Drive!

Please take a moment to read the thread below (and hopefully donate  ). If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or reply below!

Thanks,
Mike

Although membership donation is not mandatory to be a part of the Toronto Protege Club, we do encourage everyone that has ever used the forum as a means of information, benefited from a group buy or taken part in an event to give back to the club in any way they can.

Minimum donation is $10, but you may donate as much as you wish. 2009 Memberships are valid until December 31, 2009.

Donations are used to pay for the fees associated with the running and maintenance of the Toronto Protege Club website, food and supplies for the Familia Picnic, production of the Calendar and Promotional items as well as any other fees when running Official Club Events.

How To Donate? In Person at any Official TOP Meet!
We greatly encourage coming to any Official Toronto Protege Club Meet to donate and receive your Membership Card. We're always happy to meet you and put a face to your online name. Alternatively, there are a number of Officers who also attend the smaller "Mini-Meets" but it's best to check with an Officer to confirm their attendance.

Long Distance Member?
For those who are located out of the Greater Toronto Area, but would still like to donate, we have set up a PayPal account. For more information, please contact our Membership Officer at membership@toprotege.com
NOTE: When donating using PayPal, the member must pay the appropriate PayPal fees and any postage charges.

SPECIAL NOTICE
*** Due to the fact that the 2009 Membership Drive is beginning in 2009, we will be expanding the non-donating members' PM limit to 300 until February 1st, 2009.

*** If you are a renewing member, please make necessary arrangements to renew prior to this date to have your PM limit unaffected.

*** If you are a non-donating member, feel free to enjoy the increased limit - but be advised it will be returning to the previous amount (50).

Thank you in advance for your continued support!

Membership questions:

1. What is the TOP donating member promotional rate? Is it a fixed rate at every sponsor (15%, 17%?) or does it vary?

2. Can the discount be used on another one of our cars? Example: oil change at DWM for my mom's Mazda 5.

3. Is it only on parts or on labour also (Example DWM again)?

It's my first year as a donating member so I just want to get the membership straight before I start using it :)

I think I can help shed some light on your questions, since I know it pretty well, inside and out. (Moss, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

1. There is no set-in-stone discount number. That will vary from vendor to vendor. The onyl place I know that has a set number is DWM with a 17% discount on parts AND labour.

2. That would be to the discretion of the vendor, but my initial response would be no. Your membership card and any special pricing that has been arranged with club vendors is for PROTEGE stuff. Again, that's not to say you WON'T get better pricing from our vendors for stuff that's NOT for your protege. Every Vendor will have their own limitations. You'd have to check with them individually.

3. At DWM, the discount applies for parts AND labour. Anywhere else, you'd have to double check.

Don't feel bad about your questions, they're all valid and we hope that anyone else that is unsure and has questions posts them up here. We're all here to help.

I'm having a really hard time making it out to a meet. I really hope my plans to go to the TOP Ribfest don't get twarted, but being a new dad, I've learned that my priorities are not really my priorities :)

Should I consider the PayPal route then? Can an officer let me know the PayPal fee + postage costs for my replacement card and calendar?

I've been to DaveWood twice this year (yah for DWM and yah for discounts!), so it's high time I put money back in to the club who's sticker I sport and DWM recognize and base my club standing on.

^ paypal and mailing of maembership and calendars are for people out of GTA only i.e WIndsor / Ottawa / Quebec !!!! WE encourage you to attend a meet. We are not shipping your membership to Richmond Hill  as it defeats the purpose of the club, and getting to know people with the same passions as you.
