So I hooked up my OBX shifter today with the overdrive button. Everything's great and all except for the fact that now I have to hit the button twice to turn it off, and twice again to turn it on. Also, when I shut the car off with Overdrive in the ON position,.....sometimes when I re-start, it turns OD off.
Also, when I hit the button for rear defrost, I can hear a click noise in the dash,....never used to hear one.
Any ideas what I did wrong? I checked if maybe I crossed the wires or something and tried connecting them the opposite way (although I doubt it would make a difference as long as it has a loop), but that did nothing.
Would this be something that could be fixed by flashing the ECU?
Arghhhhhhh,.....I had a feeling I was gonna' screw something up.

I think you had the click before and there is a wiring problem check the conections

I actually did double check the connections,....I noticed it was doing that,...took them apart and re-connected, and it still did it.
Could it have anything to do with not un-hooking the battery before I started? The instructions said to do it,...and I didn't http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Believe it or not,....I think this problem has just worked itself out. Still needs the double click to switch (guessing it's just the way the new knob was designed), but the random switching doesn't seem to be happening anymore.

My MSP has always clicked in the dash when the rear defrost is turned on/off.
It's just a relay.

I probably never noticed before 'cause I always have the radio on.

I'm pretty satisfied with it,....I would have liked if it sat a little lower (which I know I can mod, but for now I'm going to leave it),....other than that it's alright.
Let's put it this way,...I definately like it a more than the stock shifter. Seeing as I regret buying automatic, I had to do something,....there's really not a lot of choices for Auto w/ overdrive. Did I mention how much I regret buying Auto????
Haven't taken any pics of it,...but I'll borrow my gf's digital camera and post pics soon.

i was thinking of doing the same thing, as in making it sit alot lower. i've taken the unit apart, but it doesn't really look like simple tools will do the job to make it lower.

I didn't realize you had an automatic too. Which shifter do you have? Is it the Razo RA92?
Yeah,...they definately sit too high. I know it can be modified, but I would agree with you that it does seem like it'd be a fair bit of work (especially with the button and all). I'm going to leave it the way it is for now, and if it still bugs me in a few months, maybe I'll consider it then,...but for now I'm just happy I finally installed it. The thing's been sitting in my glove box for almost a year now http://msg.toprotege.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif It was the first thing that I bought for the car,....and it took me 10 months before I finally put it to use.
