Ok I just got my P5 today and with all the bad things about the Dunlop SP5000's I'm hearing I went and talked to a local tire store about trading in the Dunlops for other tires. So far they've offered me Cooper Lifeliner Touring SLE's H-rated 205/50/16 for $60 CDN a piece.
Would you go through with the deal? Other any other tires you'd recommend if not the Coopers?
I am planning on getting winter tires/rims in the fall/winter also.

One thing you do not want to take for granted is your tires. They are the only thing between your vehicle and the ground. $60 is cheap, but as ive said, a $60 tire is a $60 tire. Personally, if your getting winter tires/rims anyways, I would go out and trade your Dunlops in for a set of Kuhmo Ecsta 712 or even the 711 which I have. Kuhmo is not a topr of the line tire (ie. Yoks, Pirelli) but is certainly a top-to-mid-range tire. Not sure on the pricing, but they are very resonable. My 711 in a 17" was about $100/ea.
If you cant afford to get different tires right now, wait till you can and buy a decent tire...

The tires aren't retail at $60 bucks that's just he price I get them for if I trade in my "new" Dunlops. The coopers retail for around $100 a piece...

The shortcomings of the SP5000 are mostly in the wet at less than new tread depths. They are actually a fairly decent dry tire for oem. I would suggest saving your money towards the Winter wheels & tires.

I agree with Rowan ,run the factory tires for this summer ,buy winter tires and rims this winter ,then in the spring replace the summer tires .
