View Full Version : 40K Service at Downtown Mazda

Hey y'all,
I received some coupons from Downtown Mazda for 15% of parts and labour + free vaccuum a few weeks back. So, today I took my car for the 40K service and presented my coupons.
Anyway, when I picked up my car from the lot, the interior wasn't vaccuumed and they only took 15% of labour and not parts.
I was going to go back to the service dept and bitch slap someone, but I was already late for another appointment.
So far, my impression of the service from Downtown Mazda has been lukewarm. I can't say that the actual car servicing is bad, but these these minor fuck-ups annoy me. Last time they tried to bill me for windshield wiper fluid when they only needed to top it up with a 1/4 bottle. I made them take it off the bill.

Wait until you have to get the 48k service and they try to ass-fuck you for $400+. Be very weary of that service and where you go for it.

Where did you end up taking your P5 for the 48K service? And, how much?
Thanx

I bought my P5 from Downtown - and the tried to screw me straight away - but that was due to a management change. I bought the car, and there was a 10 or 15% off service deal that I got to go along with it, and then when i took it in for first service, it turns out the new owner didn't honour my discount - but I bitched about it, and now they throw in a nice cleaning when they do my service....
now someone is going to tell me that the cleaning is done everywhere, and I'm getting ripped off, and got taken for a ride... which if I am, I want to know, cuz my 40k is coming up.
It's just Downtown is so close for me, I can drop the car and walk home... so i don't mind a mild ass reaming.
But I am moving Westside, so any good places out that way that I might be looking for to do the services??

I just hit 35k and will be doing the minor 40k service next month.
When I have to do the 48k, I will do it at 50K. All the major service I will bump up to the even 100k number.
You can bet i WILL be bitching when it comes to 48k.
As far as westside, I go to Erin Mills Mazda. Good people there and they are actually receptive to you when you address them.

Why do you guys go for service at dealerships anyways?
The serice sucks, they always try to fuck you over, and all Mazda dealerships can't even bother to wash you car for you, even though places like Honda and Saturn do. I gave them a shot when I first bought the car, both the one on Brampton & Oakville, and they both tried to screw me over.

Personally, i guess i am too afraid to go elsewhere just in case there is a warranty issue down the road.
A friend of mine had that with GM a few years back even thoguh they said he could get it maintained at his mechanic.
They eventually came to an agreement but it did cost him.

I'm with ProBoy on this one... If something were to happen, I don't want the hastle of confronting the dealership for any warranty work. This way it's all done and stamped, so they can't screw me (well, other than by me getting my service done by them)
Plus it's all a work writeoff for baby anyways.

I think in general, it is difficult to find good service regardless of whether it is the dealership or an independent.
Although the dealership charges more, in the big scheme, is it that much more? And, the extra bit paid for is really for a peace of mind that there is no dispute on any warranty issues as noted by ProBoy and bitch mo'fo

I believe that is the only reason that dealerships like Mazda still have service areas, not because they are anygood, but because people are affraid OR think that they can't take there car any where else.
Look through your maintenence schedule book...an apprentice at Canadain Tire could do 99% of it, and there is absolutly nothing a dealership can do, in regards to your warranty, just because you take your car elswhere, or do the work yourself.
Just my 2 cents. I just think that, like I said above, people are affraid OR think that they can't take there car any where else, so that is why dealerships treat you like crap, and they do.
Just one more thing. When I was in college, I worked at a Saturn SAAB Isuzu dealership as a cleanup and detailer. Those guys are 100% about customer satisfaction, and treating you right.
But again, when people come in with 20K on there car and its time for an oil change, they hit the customer with 200 bucks for a "20K service," which is topping up fluids, and looking at the car and oiling the doors.

Can you really say you can trust mechanic from Crappy Tire, or the likes any more than a dealership mechanic? Is Crappy Tire that much cheaper? I say not. It's more of a warranty issue.

Im not saying to take your car to CT, Im just saying that if you look at what is to be done to the car, according to your maintenence book, it is mostly very basic crap.
I would not take my car to CT either.
All Im saying is that there is a misconception that you must take your car to the dealer for your warranty to be valid.
PS Leave Saturn alone. I went to the drive in night, the wonderland day, the Ontario place day, the zoo day. Free admin, free food. Hell why not. (Except there cars are butt ugly now.)
And my wife's coupe is still an awsome car 4 years later.

I have nothing but praise for my dealership. Burlington Mazda has always been honest with me. For example, for my last oil change they noticed that my rotors were rusting. The manager asked me if I wanted them replaced and had it done in about 2 hours.

Call your dealership and inquire how much the service will cost.
They will tell you over the phone and then you can decide if you still want to go there...
Thats what I'm going to do. If it's firking expensive then I'll shop around for another place.
